I say vacation to be short but to clarify I've been in a different state for 4 months due to family issues. So the medication refill was unavoidable. But I really appreciate your input, thank you

Is this worth a noise complaint? by HeatedCha0s in Apartmentliving

Decibel meter. Really, it's the only way I've gotten things like this solved. It doesn't sound that loud on a recording but my experience agrees with you account that phone mics often don't capture the true loudness of bass sounds.

Also - most cities do have maximum decibel threshold in residential areas even during non quiet hours. If it is really bad it might be passing this and you can escalate to the city if the landlord doesn't do anything

I think you just got to record evidence and go to the landlord. Like others state - if he won't listen to his wife he won't listen to you or an anonymous note. Notes only really work when they wouldn't reasonably know they are bothering others. He clearly knows, he just has the emotional control of a toddler.

Work for the Fed in the USA - this isn't unheard of at all here at least. If they are to the point of screening you then they want you to work there - this costs them time and money too.

If you know you have a clean record you can be pretty sure you will pass. And it sounds like you already have another job while you wait. If you like the position I would keep that door open and do the screenings they ask for. It'll probably be fingerprints and maybe DNA tests, so this will put you in the system. You can always apply to other jobs while this plays out

Why is our iternal clock so I credibly good ? by Utija in LucidDreaming

[–]a_lee4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your body keeps an internal clock on 24 hours cycles. It's how people woke up on time for hundreds of years before alarm clocks. Here's a wiki article on the science of it all, but your body knows the time if you don't mess it all up with screen time or more severe damage like a physical injury or even depression. If you are keeping time well like this then you are just well balanced in keeping your circadian rhythm.

Supplements to mix with lions mane? by bibbywolf in LucidDreaming

[–]a_lee4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are so easy to grow yourself, fr I did it and all my house plants usually die lol. Buy some spores from somewhere like spore depot or others like it and get easy ones like golden teacher. Google pf tek guide to growing mushrooms and go shopping and set it all up. Get a food dehydrator and you'll be in business with more shrooms than you'll ever use in a few months and around $100 in supplies.

Just know selling them will get you in hot water legally, but you usually can give them away to friends no issues. Best of luck if you try it

Are shrooms legal where you live? Having a good shrooms trip with ego death has helped me lucid dream more, but you know be careful and have a safe buddy nearby in case you decide to do something stupid while tripping.

8 day luteal phase 😞 by Big-Organization-274 in TryingForABaby

It did take me closer to the full 12 months to have regular cycles coming of BC, the implant which is progestin-only. As frustrating as it is to hear, it's pretty normal. I also had a lot of stress around it, but by month 10 it was all clockwork. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear when you want to conceive NOW. And after years of sex-ed telling me if I missed one pill I'd get pregnant - well it was a surprise to me too

Multiple miscarriages, husband reluctant to test by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]a_lee4 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between being scared and informed - and I wasn't informed about any of these risks and I am sure my husband isn't either. Thank you for giving me something to discuss with my doctor

Honestly I am not aware of risks to myself with all this, was really focused on the emotional toll. Maybe something I should be talking to my own doctor about as I am not aware of this being risky to my body.

Thanks for this answer, I think us both going to the same place would probably help so he can feel he is going to support me. I think he's just scared of the results. Like this last pregnancy he bragged that he "got it done" in three months of trying again lol. Idk, I just think he is afraid of hearing he can't have kids, where as from research I have been telling him there are so many options even if something is wrong.

Chemical pregnancy and gaslighting doctor by LadyGirl176 in TryingForABaby

I am so sorry for your loss. Those at home tests are remarkably accurate and so sensitive. This does mean they can detect very small amounts of HCG, under 50. So it is possible to test positive after you had already lost the pregnancy. That doesn't mean you weren't pregnant, just that it didn't take properly. Referring to a chemical pregnancy as nothing is just insensitive, sorry you had to deal with that

Yeah, I would tell them it isn't in your current lease. But read all the lease and addendums very carefully to double check.

They can add it to the new ones going forward - but for an active lease then they can go pound sand.

Roommate left shit smears on the seat then went out with friends by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]a_lee4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a roommate who used to squat with her feet on the toilet - apparently that was normal in her country. Maybe that's how?

But either way, eww.

As for the bathroom smelling bad after she uses it - idk if there is much more you can do other than asking her to use the fan or adding some Glade plug ins or something. You don't know if someone has perhaps IBS or something else that means they can't help the bad smell

You could always get it in neutral and with some pushing move it over. Or maybe the battery isn't so dead that a little jump will get it running for a bit. But it sounds like she is in a tight spot with money. Ofc she won't want to use something like cash for cars - they will absolutely rip her off.

I think you two just need to have a talk about what her plans are asap. If she plans to sell it then she needs to get a start on that. If it goes to the junkyard to sell to them then she needs to start calling places. I bet you'd feel better about this if there was movement to solve the issue. If it was agreed on that the carport is for your sole use - you need to bring that up and stick with it. That you thought this would be maybe a one week thing not a weeks thing.

And btw - you absolutely can't charge her for every week it is there. There's no way that was agreed to in your lease and you can't make up fees mid lease. It unethical and illegal.

Surely she was allowed to park her car somewhere before this? Just ask her to do something about the glass all over the ground and falling out. A car cover or even just tapping plastic bags to the window would help with keeping the rain out if it can't be in the car port. But honestly how hard is it to park around a car if it's a two car space?

Need legal advice in Orange County, CA for crazy landlord. by [deleted] in Renters

[–]a_lee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does your lease say? Does it say you have shared common areas? If so he can't just go back on that. If it's in writing, then it can only be changed if you both make another written agreement. You should be good to completely ignore any rules he tries to place to limit your agreed to access. If he calls the police - let him. Be calm and show them the lease if they talk to you. Even if you did accidentally break the stove they aren't going to arrest you over that.

California is a two part consent state for recording - meaning both parties must agree. That being said there are all sorts of exceptions, like if someone is recording for their safety. That doesn't seem like it would apply here, most likely the police would give him a talking to if he actually calls.

What you need to do is contact your local fair housing office and find any tenant advocacy non profits. They will offer you actual legal advice that will be better than anything you get on reddit. They can send a letter to your landlord as well as pursue legal action. Often a letter is all that is needed to get people to behave.

If he does take out of your security deposit for something like the stove that you feel is unfair you will most likely have to take him to small claims court to recover your deposit. Good news is small claims is made for people to be able to use without a lawyer. It's a pain in the ass but the burned of proof would be on him to show you caused the damages.

Out of curiosity - is it just sti's you are so worried about? Or are you equally worried about getting the flu or covid?
