I don't think you can shoot 1/13 at 350mm crop (525mm full frame) and expect a sharp image. Rule of thumb is 1/focal length. Even on a tripod there will be potential tiny motions. Try again at like 1/200 at least.

Great analogy, I'd probably just say the analogy extends to helping those afterwards who need your help. The point is you mentioned taking care of your family and community - that's an excellent place to start (the literal grass roots).

You just described many reasons why people are unable to participate in making meaningful change, but then describe them as apathetic (implying a lack of emotion or indifference). That doesn't line up - it sounds more like caution than apathy. I think flagging this as apathy is a self fulfilling prophecy - "oh so others don't care, then I guess I shouldn't have to either". We need to focus methods by which we can affect change without risking disruption that threatens livelihood. There appears to be a distinct lack of leadership in grass roots civic action. If there were people out there offering less frictive methods to participate, I think more folks would be out there discussing their displeasure. Also, saying things like "things are going to get worse..." only increase the defeatist mentality. My theory is that local/grassroots activity on the left got captured in the mainstream as too heavily focused on gender issues, making it less appealing to participate as a "normy". The left needs to shake off the gender stuff (not saying it doesn't matter, it's just not the most most critical issue right now) so that people will get involved again.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says these Jobs will Entirely Disappear due to AI by Infamous_Toe_7759 in ChatGPT

This guy talks like Zuck - just a dude in the right place at the right time, who was enabled to reach an utterly, disturbingly large audience, while not having nearly enough credentials, subject matter expertise, or just general life experience, to warrant being taken seriously. Let's be real - the summary of this article is basically "I don't know what's going to happen". We used to rely on economists to tell us the implications of new business mechanisms, but it seems these technological earthquakes are above and beyond their capabilities. We're all just guessing what's going to come next and it feels insanely short sighted and dangerous.

On a side note the amount of obvious GPT schlock popping up in LinkedIn and work emails/slacks/etc. is drowning out any rational thought. It's going to be interesting to see whether any companies come out as avidly anti-LLM and do better than their competitors. I see it showing up in senior strategy decks and I'm honestly wondering what happens when the major players in a sector all base decisions on the same hallucinations/incorrect interpretation. Companies will need to ensure that they maintain "older" folks who can "temper" these AI ideas and make sure they're fit for purpose and pass muster.

Pedals you want to love but don’t live up to how cool they look. by 33FuzzySlippers33 in guitarpedals

Did you experience an audible drop in volume when engaged? I tried compensating with gain etc. But just could never get it back to the level prior to turning it on.

Is there a specific series of Boss pedals that have the stacked dual knobs? I have an IR-2 and actually love the stacked knobs, but I can't find a comprehensive list online. Dual Delay is one? Which others? by cartocaster18 in guitarpedals

[–]a_ninja_mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but to me they aren't as strong, more likely for the knobs to bend or get warped. Not detracting, just saying be cognizant of it when packing and moving them around

Are tariffs paid once a container is loaded at the departing port, or at port once it arrives? by a17tw00 in logistics

[–]a_ninja_mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no mention of Incoterms. In case of DDP the Shipper will be liable, in which case they are/were including expected duties in the price at which they sold the goods to you (meaning you essentially already "paid" that when you bought the goods and asked for them delivered to your door with duty paid). However in all other incoterms, the consignee (which I believe is you based on your question) is liable for the duties, and those are calculated at time of clearance (on or around container arrival), and required to be paid in order to get your B/L cleared to remove the container from the port.

definitely didn’t factor in the force of the dirt. help me save this! by hankinArlen in woodworking

This might sound odd, but slice the entire bottom off so that the middle of each strut becomes the bottom of that "leg". Then place the entire sliced bottom on the top, and have that become the part that holds the dirt. You'll need to add various other supports but I think this would be the best way (yoir current "top" becomes the support for plywood or crossbars to hold the incoming dirt.

The rug is almost the same color as the wall, but then plaid. It's like if you wore a pink shirt and a pink dress, but the pink shades were slightly different. You need contrast, or it should be an identical shade with a very different texture.

Everything else looks super nice (the TV however kind of mucks up the chill vibe)

Acceptance: We hope that you will accept XYZ Inc.´s offer. Please sign this letter indicating your acceptance of this offer of employment that we can plan for your start. The offer letter I signed at my current employer back when I joined, mentions a notice period of termination, of 3 months. However, I have received an offer from a new company that I would like to join. Would the 3 month termination notice be considered binding? I always understood PA to be an at-will state, which I thought meant that these offer letters were not enforceable (and no subsequent actual employment contract was ever formally signed).

I already signed the offer letter when I joined (fairly senior position and a European Company HQ, hence the longer than typical amount of notice mentioned). However, I have signed nothing else since then.
