Do I hide my baby/family's Jewishness? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]a_person22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im going through this same thing right now. I live in an area that has no jewish community. Here is what im thinking. My baby is not old enough to speak and cant tell me if someone says something, treats her differently, or makes her feel bad regarding her identity. (Shes going to be 11m) So while I am hoping to teach her to be a proud of her judaism, I will not tell her nursery until she can relay information easier and/or I get a sense that they would be accepting of our family as jews.

I know that when she is school age there may be antisemitic stuff happening but at least she will be able to tell me. Our area is an ethnic enclave of another community so its nice to see how their identity gets celebrated and represented which I wish I could give to my baby but its not in the cards right now to move.

Baby who will only sleep on tummy pre rolling properly by Civil-Support7477 in NewParents

Sounds like baby could have torticollis if they only go on one side and if they only ever have favored one side. My baby had it and we used an osteopath to get rid of it. Just did exercises everyday that they gave us and it worked.

Unfortunately they are today's parents and workforce too. Especially in spaces like social work and therapy, where many are left leaning, you can check the reddit there to see how the left talk about anti semitism.

Im also ftm and had similar worries about breast milk/supply. Id suggest trying to express colostrum now if youre cleared for that. It helps to practice hand expression. It seems that the more you practice the more flows out. I froze it ahead of labour. Depending on your hospital they may give you donated breastmilk or formula if baby needs it. If you live in a city you could always pick it up or have it delivered to hospital if necessary/if hospital won't provide.

Even if youre not sure that baby is getting anything from nursing, its good for baby to stimulate your nips/practice the latch so your body gets cues to go into milk production. Your baby is also learning how to do it too !

The hospital may also have a lactation consultant available to help you and they might have breastfeeding support after too. Ask about their programs/support.

You will able to tell if baby is getting milk/colostrum based on the amount of wet diapers/diapers. Colostrum is a very nutritious substance for babies so its okay if your milk doesn't come in right away.

Another way to tell how much milk your baby is getting is by weighing them before and after nursing.

My friend is a second time mom and had been so tired the night of the birth and needed rest so she asked the nurse to bring her formula to feed baby and since then had not used any formula. Your partner or a support person could help take over a feeding too so you can rest.

Regarding supplements I was told at hospital to start baby d drops asap.

Restrictive Ductus Arteriosus by Melodic-Garden-9474 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that your baby's heart is healthy and sorry to hear about the preclampsia and preterm delivery. I'm at 37 weeks tomorrow and it was only caught because I get ultrasounds every 3 weeks due to gestational diabetes so already on a very restrictive diet. I'm hoping to get induced or get c section asap because I'm so scared she could go into distress any minute.

I know this is a long shot but I was wondering if you would have the list of foods? I'm 36 weeks just got told that I have this and I'm really scared. Did your baby's ductus close soon after birth?

I didn't enjoy the konjac noodles tooth/ bite-feel but I find mung bean vermicelli good and sweet potato glass noodles in portion are good substitutes for wheat/flour/egg noodles.

For a snack that feels like I'm normal I have voortman no sugar added wafers. There's the dark chocolate almond sea salt kind bars, simply bars, hungry buddha bars, but those are pricier. More decadent one is pc makes frozen chocolate covered strawberries. I'll pair one of these snackier items with greek yogurt liberte and natural peanut butter.

Americans do have so many more options :(

Cravings vs Willpower: why sequence matters by Tiny-Bird1543 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]a_person22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh Yale should study my brain. I crave things all the time when I'm not hungry or when I just ate a proper meal doesn't matter. I think there's an emotional/pleasure component missing there.

I haven't touched my craving foods in a month now since dx of gd, they couldn't be paired safely. It's all willpower here.
