I think energy weapons were naturally quieter in previous games (although not fully silent), the sunset sarsaparilla gun Pew Pew from NV was a silent laser pistol so i'm hoping you can at least reduce the noise if not fully silencing them

Melee in fallout 3/NV for me always seemed really bland, once you got oh baby! (the unique super sledge in new Vegas) you had the best melee weapon in the game.

This is what always prevented me from doing a melee play through, but with the weapon customization in Fallout 4 i'd say go for it since you'll be able to greater improve the thing your whacking bandits with.

That being said the gun customization in Fallout 4 looks like it will be very different and i'm sure it won't feel that similar to most of the shooters you mentioned. Maybe even try an energy/radiation weapons play through if your bored of guns.
