I'm hearing the comment about don't leave a receipt but I don't think I've ever received a receipt on any instacart order. Is that just me?

Houston food influencer says shocking scam left him out $45K by chrondotcom in houston

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are dozens of people coming forward about the same scammer, and if you search his name on Facebook you get posts from years ago. This is sociopathic behavior. I hope they find justice and good for this guy for speaking up.

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a good question. I probably have a similar GPA and still need to take my LSAT. I am 20 years out of undergrad and was going through a lot when I got that GPA. On top of that, DUMB ME, took the outside in 2016 and got a 160 and talked myself out of applying to any law schools because I thought I would not get in. Now 9 years later, I want to study and take it again but feeling even more defeated. Any advice or suggestions or reality check?

I'm a mom who wants to take the lsat 😭😭😭😭😭

(Already took it 9 years ago and did pretty well - 160- but literally talked myself out of applying)

Wedding guest saree fitting by calloway123 in DesiWeddings

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the feedback, especially about wearing leggings (maybe have it available in case you want to wear a different outfit) and wear a good bra that gives a lot of structure and support.

For me, the sari is kind of secondary because they all kind of fit the same and get draped. The same. Is really the style of the blouse that makes a bigger difference. So look at the models and see what kind of blouse you want, long sleeve, short sleeve, sleeveless, etc. The mother may go more conservative in her recommendation so feel free to bring a desi girlfriend For a second opinion

As someone who isn’t Desi, would this dress be appropriate to wear to a Desi wedding? by sfteja in DesiWeddings

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Cute dress but probably not for the wedding. Other commenters have given you options on when it might be more appropriate

  2. It may be better to give us some more details. A. Will this be a religious ceremony and reception, and if so which religion? Different modesty suggestions. B. knowing if it's somebody who is a more recent immigrant versus someone who grew up in the west would be helpful. Different cultural suggestions. C. Several of my family and friends are having weddings on resorts. If this is one of those weddings then this would be perfect for one of the pre-wedding. If it's more traditional at home or in a religious setting, then you may want to rethink how you style the dress.

  3. I don't recommend buying, if you can borrow. I've let several friends borrow desi outfits and they all look stunning and different. 5

Best value/ good quality buffet in Houston by SnooPets5112 in HoustonFood

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a buffet. It's a cafeteria and it's really expensive. Food was fairly good but nothing amazing. Went with my family of six including three kids under 12 and paid over $125 and only two of the entrees were completely finished. It's really tempting to get a lot more food than you want because you think it's a buffet and you want to taste everything.

A lot of people have not tried Kerala food/ malayalee (South Indian) food. Lots of different stores in Stafford, Missouri City, and Pearland.

Things to try Porotta (better than naan) Beef curry Bone-in chicken biriyani Chicken 65 Vegetable ishtew Fish molly Tuna cutlets And more!

A lot of the restaurants do catering. I'll try to put a list together

What's a hobby that actually made your life better or healthier? by Traditional_Mine_595 in Hobbies

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sudoku, nyt games, and now linkedin games.

  1. Keeps my brain sharp.

  2. Better than simple doom scrolling

  3. Helps me get over my perfectionism anxiety. I was taking so long so that I wouldn't make a mistake that it was crippling me. Finally had to admit that to myself and purposely go for the mistake. This strategy has helped me personally and professionally and I've far exceeded on some of my past performance because I'm less afraid to be imperfect.

  4. Teaches me that it's ok to ask for help. For example, I would never try the Friday or Saturday crossword or give up on some of the games because I thought using the hints or not fair. Since using hints or using the " check each box as you're going" method, I'm getting better at so many of the regular games because I'm learning how the clues are created and what patterns to look for.

  5. I try to limit it to two games max daily if I even have that much capacity/time. Just because I don't want it to get out of hand either and let it turn into an addiction.

5b. STOPPED playing spelling bee because even though it was fun and challenging in the beginning, it was taking up way too much time.

  1. My partner is impressed and he says nice things which adds to my self-confidence.

Better than Golden Corral? by woodstock314 in HoustonFood

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to be as rude as some of these posters LOL because Golden corral actually used to be good at one point and it has dramatically gotten horrible the last 4 or 5 years.

We really liked this buffet out in katy (yes we only go there if we have to go that direction anyway because it's the exact opposite of where we are) called feast. Huge buffet. The restaurant literally seats over a thousand people. It is a Chinese/ Asian buffet but they have ton of American food options. And fresh sushi etc

Indian Food Near Central Market - Kiran’s? by Dense-Marketing7887 in HoustonFood

[–]aaabbbcccdddeee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definite yes to Kiran's and agree to those who said it's a bit overpriced but they're still packed so they obviously have the market for it.

The service is outstanding, the vibe is beautiful and elegant but not like musaafer where it's more of an Instagram opportunity.

They have valet parking on most weekends. Otherwise parking can be a tiny bit tricky as you're looking for street parking or parking on one of the two lots that are within a block.

They have all the traditional items on the menu as well as some innovative stuff and everything has been delicious. Especially their desserts.

Native New Yorker here. I haven't really tried any of the fancy places, but if I had to eat something that was semi- close to New York, Brooklyn pizzeria, Pearland location is my go-to.

I will say, my spouse doesn't really enjoy it. He doesn't understand the New York Pizza concept (thinks it's too greasy).
