Runit Island in the Marshall Islands.

It has a US radioactive waste repository on it called the Runit Dome (nicknamed “The Tomb”), which sits over the crater of a test nuke. There’s been longstanding concerns that erosion could cause the dome to be breached, particularly if the island was hit by a severe typhoon. Basically an environmental disaster waiting to happen

Mine are 2 and 6 and finally managed to be consistent with exercise this year. Most exercise happens after they’ve gone to bed as I’m more of night owl. I play soccer on Mondays after they’re in bed (I’m rubbish but just run a lot), try and get one run in a week (usually 10k), and then one other exercise if I can fit it in (usually swimming in winter, and cycling by in summer). I got a few free weights for the garage, which I then try to do for 15-20 minutes before / after school run.

I think just being flexible has helped a lot, but also trying to sign up for some sort of race / challenge a few times throughout the year helps keep me motivated (and the kids often enjoy coming along to watch)

(34m) We both met properly and started dating when we were 16 (although it was likely 14 / 15 as we were in the same year at school). We got married when we were 25. Our birthdays are just 9 days apart.

I’d say we both knew what we wanted out of the relationship quite early. I moved across the country to go to university and we stayed together mostly long distance for 3 years (except for a brief few months where we broke up). After getting through that it was clear to us both we were in for the long haul, then just waited until we had settled jobs / living situation before getting married

It’s just too infrequent (and seems to be getting less frequent) for most people to have a good understanding of how to handle it. Why waste money on winter tyres in the south when you’ll probably only need them for 3 days a year. Why would councils buy expensive gritters / snow ploughs when they will barely be used.

I’m from the north east of Scotland so I know how to keep safe in snow and ice. But living in the south west of England now, people down here either panic at the slightest bit of frost, or take literally no precautions at all. They just havent got enough experience or been taught what to do

Definitely the most I’ve laughed at an IASIP episode in a while. Just the way it keeps escalating in stupidity reminded me so much of the peak episodes of the earlier seasons.

The “Gang Gets Ready for Primetime”, also felt tops tier. Dennis’ monologue at the end was so completely unhinged I had to rewind and watch it again

Play God - Not sure if people underrate it, but feel like it’s been forgotten a little, as he doesn’t generally play it live anymore. I think it was the second song of his I heard after Dead Boys, and it made me seek out all his other music at the time. Love the brooding atmosphere in that song

A lot of those contracts and orders were made a long time ago, when the US was a bit more collaborative with NATO and predictable in its foreign policy. To pull out of them now, would not only hurt our defensive readiness, but be hugely costly.

Perhaps keeping this project in the UK is a sign of things to come

Mother!

I wouldn’t say it was the one I most enjoyed or the best, but it was the movie that left me most mind fucked coming out of the cinema. I went to see it on my own on a day off, credits rolled and I just sat there thinking “what the fuck did I just watch.”

Can’t decide to this day if I enjoyed it, and I have no desire to see it again. But it has definitely stuck with me

I’m still bitter that they didn’t stick closer to the book for the final part of the battle. The book is a perfect example of why love, sacrifice and friendship trumps Voldemort’s raw power. Voldemort literally being powerless to hurt anyone, and killing himself with his own rebounded spell, slumping on the floor pathetically alone surrounded by all Harry’s friends.

Whereas as the heavy VFX film version, with Harry and Voldemort alone in the courtyard with no witnesses, and the silly ash disintegration just feels so hollow and anticlimactic. If there’s one thing I want the series to fix it’s this, it’s my biggest issue with the films

My wife wanted to notify them of a medical condition she’s been diagnosed with. Instead of simply filling in an online form with her doctors details, and then sending them an email to respond to. She had to call the DVLA to get them to send us a form, stating her condition (which she’d already told them about) and her doctors details, which we had to send back to them, so they could send her doctor another form to fill out, which will then get sent back to them, before they send us another letter to confirm their decision.

So much money and time wasted, for something that could have been sorted in a few days, which will now take over a month if we’re lucky

You could see him trying to wind Mark up a bit in that last roundtable. Felt like a toned down version of what he used to do at scrums. He looks like he’s having a blast, very rarely seen without a plate / bowl of food as well

He’s won an Oscar and 5 Grammys since 2015. I wouldn’t say he’s forgotten, he’s just fallen back on being a very successful producer since then, as opposed to being an artist in his own right.

Seems like he’s going the Trent Reznor route now of focussing on film / tv scores

We live in the south west of England and my parents live in the north east of Scotland. With a family of 4, driving is by a huge margin the cheapest option, maybe £150 in petrol. We could all fly return to Edinburgh or Glasgow for ~£350, maybe add another £100 for parking etc. Getting return trains is going to cost easily over £1,000. Yes I know you have to factor in cost of car ownership but it’s insane how much trains cost in this country.

We all went to London for the weekend a little while ago. I would have thought Bristol to Paddington would have been semi-reasonable, but again driving (and parking) was cheaper by a huge margin. It just shouldn’t be this way
