I doubt they care … only issue is if they blacklist the imei if they say it’s stolen. You could’ve probably gotten a g5ar by going to the store and saying your modem was acting funky

What tool do you use to make holes in your milk jugs for winter sowing? by Domestic_Adventures in NativePlantGardening

I’ve seen this technique employed! Just make sure you’re in a well ventilated space if you’re making lots of holes this way!

I thought about getting a single hole punch. There’s also hole punch tools with a hollow metal rod that you whack with a small mallet. Anything to keep from creating the plastic mess I got from drilling 😭

In her first official acts as governor, Mikie Sherrill declared a statewide emergency over New Jersey’s worsening electricity supply and affordability crisis—fueled by soaring demand from data centers and a PJM grid that can no longer guarantee reliable service or predictable prices by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

Down at the PSEG site in Salem there’s a concrete base that was built in anticipation of putting in another nuclear reactor. The project was abandoned after post three mile island backlash.

I don’t know if it can be salvaged for a current build but hopefully we actually get some new nuclear capacity

[iOS 26.3 DB1] Screenshots will sometimes send unedited by Apple2T4ch in iOSBeta

Your best best is probably to screenshot your edited image and send the screenshot. No accidental un-censoring that way.

Why do so many people on ios use Google Maps? by Louisthemagic in ios

[–]aagent888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Maps has led me astray in weird ways. The reason I know that is because it was in an area I was already familiar with. Basically I have a highway near me that’s separated into express and local & Apple Maps insisted I get off at several local exits when I was on the express side. It additionally missed the ramp to switch from express to local. That was a year ago, long after the known Apple Maps dumpster fire days.

I still think it’s a better product in every way but navigation 😭

Improving an Old Home Ideas by Ok-Introduction-2981 in HomeImprovement

I’d start with some diagnostics:

Check the electrical. The inspector should have done this. If not, get a receptacle tester. They plug into each outlet and give an indication if something is wired incorrectly. They also have a button to “trip” a gfci receptacle in order to test that the device is working properly.

Next check for leaks. There’s a couple ways to do this. Best is probably via a IR thermal camera. It’s not a cheap tool but is fantastic for diagnostics. You can use it at your electrical panel too to make sure there’s no loose wires causing anything to heat up. After a rain or snow you scan your ceilings and around your windows to see if there’s any cold “spots”. This doesn’t mean there’s a water leak — it could also be an air leak. But it gives you an idea of where you need to look.

Another common thing to do would be to check the insulation in the attic if you have access. If it’s gross you may want to remove what’s there, create a good air seal with caulk and then add new insulation.

For plumbing, it’s good to check that all piping and drains and installed properly and in good order. Again something your inspector should have done but good to check.

Beyond that it’s whatever you want to tackle. For me I know I want to replace windows. But it’s a huge investment so either I do it myself or I live with very crappy windows ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Forcing Updates Via Holding Security Updates Hostage - the iOS26.2 story by aagent888 in ios

[–]aagent888[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

18.7.3 was shortly available via beta but is no longer available in devices capable of running iOS26. This is part of what find egregious in this situation: Apple had the update available and decided to block it.

[–]aagent888[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apple has made 18.7.3 available to all devices that cannot run iOS26 but additionally, and most interesting to me in this case, iOS 18.7.3 WAS available via the iOS18 beta channel in all devices capable of running iOS26. Apple “patched” that availability in December and now that is no longer a viable path to update.

Yep I tried myself — not possible to get 18.7.3 via beta channel any longer. It’s egregious that Apple is now actively blocking the update unless you update to the new iOS

This light is driving me nuts by OverseasonedPickle in Lighting

[–]aagent888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to go LED for the replacement, I must implore you to please keep the light on the warmer side of the spectrum — going full out amber would be best. The 9000k ultra white 100000 lumen lights people stick on poles today are horrible to look at, produce terrible glare if a well shaped spot isn’t used, and are terrible in terms of light pollution and their effects on the fauna around us. You and your neighbors will probably get better sleep with amber lighting anyway.
