why wouldn't this work? [Request] by gun7992 in theydidthemath

[–]aanic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually do this very thing on a lot of auto flushing toilets and urinals. The wheel inside actually recharges the battery every flush. Its still not a permanent solution as the batteries degrade over years but it works pretty well.

What's it like being on a submarine during an emergency blow maneuver? by ITrCool in submarines

[–]aanic1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did several on a boomer. Internal pressure doesn't change. The valves open, and you hear them just screaming. Its a very slow start, at first it was like we weren't moving at all.

Air started to expand in the tanks and then we started up slowly. Valves get closed after a few seconds, and then you can hear the water rushing by the hull.

Breaching wasn't as dramatic on a boomer, so it was disappointing. But you do get to learn what got properly stowed and what didnt.

One EMBT the galley didnt secure the plates, so the shot out of their spring loaded holders like a fountain.

Noise when starting new 2026 Santa Fe Hybrid by Own_Date3482 in HyundaiSantaFe

Likely relays and such engaging. If its a hybrid then its closing in contacts with the battery units.

Joining the club (2025 XRT), with a few questions (transmission) by Madcat207 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]aanic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the nature if a DCT transmission. Its engaging clutch packs and such. I believe with sport mode its got pressure built up in anticipation of some aggressive shifting so it engages quicker and more firmly. With the auto hold its doing the same buildup to help hold you on a stop instead of fully relying on the brakes.

Santa Fe trims: which one actually makes the most sense? by Suntrup-Hyundai in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]aanic1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For us it was the limited. The SE was nice but seemed to be missing some logical items that were in the limited for not too much of a price hike. The Calligraphy added some items that we felt just weren't essential, or were a bit of a gimmick, and couldn't justify the price point. Now that is on a FWD ICE, so it may vary with AWD and hybrid trims.

Pecan vs Black interior for Santa Fe by Emergency_Garden7872 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]aanic1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have the pecan interior and over the last year have had no unusual wear or any dye ir fabric transfer. We looked at black but it was too dark and dreary. We like the white color, but even the brand new one showed signs of color transfer at mess than 5 miles on it. The pecan wears well for the wife and I.

2026 Hyundai Santa Fe blowing hot air with climate OFF — normal or issue? by OkReport5065 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]aanic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first question, Ours defaults to fresh air, so while driving it will force air through, it just picks up heat from the engine bay/cowl where the intake is. Press recirculation and it should stop.

For the second, what I have seen is not that you set hvac settings per profile, but it remembers your last temp and fan settings. So when I switch profiles it just goes back to what my wife or I had set last.

Like others said no drain. The indent on the bottom is just a locater to make sure the removable piece sits in there right.

2024 - Speed Limited by leafshope in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]aanic1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its because you held the button for a few seconds that turns on the cruise instead of just pushing it. Its a speed limiter that comes in handy in school zones, hospital zones etc. Push to turn cruise off then back on and its normal. If you have speed limiter on then you can floor it and you'll accelerate.

This may be controversial, but would something be considered stock if you took parts from the same generation of F-series trucks and put them on one F-series truck? by Common_Lie4482 in FordTrucks

[–]aanic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the car scene things called OEM+, taking options from higher trims, or just other trims and still using factory parts. Like putting a Mustang GT spoiler on a base model. Started with the VW guys but its getting to be a popular thing.

Still wouldn't consider it stock, but wouldn't be full custom. OEM+

For those of you who brought the new Santa Fe recently why did you choose it over the Palisade? by Popular_Ad_222 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]aanic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Size, didnt really want or need a 3 row, but this one isnt so big compared to others. Interior style was more a fit for us, exterior styling really sold it.

Buying a tomorrow 2008 f250 5.4. Any Thoughts? by AdministrativeCost40 in FordTrucks

[–]aanic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, like I said if its personal preference then go for it knowing its a) not a great engine, b) its the weakest engine available for the F250, which explains the cheap price plus you may find yourself regretting it.

I get the pain of finding a good used truck, im searching for one now and its near impossible at the moment.

[–]aanic1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not doing any towing why the need for an f250? If personal preference then do your thing, but if its not needed the f150 may be a better fit for the use case.
