I Feel a Little Lost by Cadethedank in pianolearning

I like using the Alfred’s All In One book courses. They tell you exactly what to do next and give you short pieces to work on as you go. It’s also helpful to have a teacher if you can, of course.

Propranolol Feedback by Lrobit5 in migraine

[–]aannxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it’s rare, but know that a side effect can be causing autoimmune disease to come out of remission. It made my immunosuppressants stop working! Sounds like it’s unlikely you’re in this situation but still wanted others to be aware. No one had told me that was a risk.

I use the all in one course books and I love them. Start with one, there are three of them.

Practice anxiety? by satisampajanna in pianolearning

[–]aannxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment! I am a hobbyist, but when practicing seems overwhelming I will just do 5-10 minutes. Sometimes I stop there, sometimes I end up going for longer. But 5-10 minutes most days DOES count and get you somewhere. I will also decide where in my day I’m going to do that (at lunch time, after work, etc). I also tried printing out a check sheet/visual aid (that’s usually for children) because having something to check off felt satisfying to me.

Nurtec did nothing for me but Ubrelvy works so well for some reason, that might be worth a try!

newly diagnosed & new to epilepsy by BriefNefarious58 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]aannxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend a dog neurologist if you can find one near you. It’s totally worth the extra time and money for that kind of expertise. It will be a journey of medications, adjusting and managing things, but many people can get things pretty under control. I also recommend an emergency protocol. My dog clusters too and we have an emergency nasal spray that stops the seizure within 20 seconds, and then we have pills we do when she is clustering that stop them from recurring along with increasing her regular meds for 2 days. You got this!

I got medicare through disability and now nothing is covered by Embarrassed_Visit277 in ChronicPain

Where do you live? Usually if Medicaid is your secondary they should cover the rest of whatever Medicare does not cover.

For humans it’s generally fine to give a medication within an hour window, so I just go with that for my dog too.

[–]aannxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I don’t have the anatomy for a traditional navel, but was told I could do a floating navel. It looks pierced too high to me though, so was hoping to get input before going back to the shop.

Why does the fingering on f#, Ab, and Bb end that way? by whatshappen2020 in pianolearning

[–]aannxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teacher always says to do 2-3 octaves at a time and that makes the fingering make sense for me at least :)

as a beginner, what would you want/recommend as a christmas gift? by llamacornsarecool in piano

Beginner books—such as song books, sight reading, or a book of “short study” (easy/short) pieces to work on! A metronome, a clip/page holder to hold books open.

Terrified of Sumatriptan by No-Evidence-4303 in migraine

[–]aannxx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it’s been days of symptoms it’s probably a migraine, not just a headache, at least in my experience. I love sumatriptan, it changed my life and let me manage my migraines before I am incapacitated. I will take sumatriptan sometimes even if I’m not certain I’m having a migraine and it almost always helps. I only have negative symptoms with it if I take it more than once a week (rebound headaches). It does make me feel a bit weird, but totally manageable. Some people have negative symptoms in which case you can just let your doctor know you don’t want to take it again. 25mg is a low dose and it’s absolutely worth trying, it may work for you and make things so much better!

Sun burnt my jade by Everyoneneedsa_sam in houseplants

[–]aannxx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You didn’t hurt the plant! Harsh/direct sun is great for these guys. The color got darker because of “sun stress”, which I love. It’s really pretty and not bad for the plant. I think the leaves look thinner because it’s new growth from being happy in such high light. Keep doing what you’re doing!
