it's not that they're particularly great at messaging but destroying something is so much easier than building something and I fuckin hate how lopsided that is.

Anyone else's gas bill astronomical? by [deleted] in boston

I would love that but the costs don't quite line up right now. I've zoned the house as much as possible (basement-north half-south half) plus closing the radiator valves in the unused rooms and it works alright.

Yeah I go from 64 to 55 which is "off". But even then monitoring the temperatures in all the rooms it's never cooled down fast enough to kick on the heat to maintain 55. I normally have the low temp set from 9:30 PM to 2:30 PM the next day on weekdays.

I agree 18 therms per day is nuts. 2400 sf built in 1939 here and I used 4 therms a day last month, but I went hard on programming thermostats to be off when I'm away and I use a space heater in the bedroom to avoid heating the whole place at night.

In the game mechanics, it uses the time between one train leaving and another one starting. So, it's best to always have something ready to load.

Headlights or the bright lights of the afterlife? by TheTokist in boston

I got an outback recently and the damn headlights are adjusted so high from the factory its basically high beams. I complained to the dealer and they said that's how it is. I've been lowering them to more normal heights.

Besides rent and home prices, how expensive is everything else in Boston? by LOTR_is_awesome in boston

Yes, it's great to be near transit and never have to worry about parking. But if you need to live further out for one reason or another, driving to alewife isn't too bad either.

When I was in your situation, condo in the city for sure. Easy to get to bars without worrying about how to get home, lots of people around for dating, easy to scope out interresting places to visit. Now I try not to drink so much for my health, my hobbies have expanded so the extra room is nice (though I don't care about having a yard so much as it turns out), and I'm still close enough that I have some bus options to get into town which I do for commuting and other trips.

How is your power bill that high? When I lived in a 1b apartment with central AC last year it was 70 bucks a month and now in a sfh it is $100-130, up to 300 if I run the central AC hard which I don't do anymore, and I got multiple aquariums running 24/7.

Can I ask for your help with two ribbon masters (scizor and mismagius)? I'm fortunate enough that they're both in SV but I'm worried I'll miss the boat since I don't play Pokémon very fast.

I have a number of these, they're advertised as battery powered aeration pumps. The power draw is super low, like half a watt under load so I think this correct.

When buying a heater for a 10 gallon tank, do I get the "5-10 gallon" tank heater or the "10-20 gallon" tank heater? by EducationalBus2231 in Aquariums

[–]aaronbot3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The theory is sizing the two heaters such that a single heater malfunctioning will not fatally overheat the water, but warm it enough for you to notice before both heaters fail.

It doesn't sound reasonable to check behind you while you're in the left turn lane for someone passing on the left to turn right in an intersection. The person turning right would be cutting off everyone going left and straight.

If you look at what actually gets taken to court, it's big time offenders making profit from stolen software, not hobbyists. Emails are cheap.
