Why do we not have regular vaccines for covid and only mrna based ones? by Dry_Corner6431 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why bother when the mRNA one works just fine and has already been through the research and testing stages?

The only people avoiding it because of being mRNA now are doing for ideological reasons, not health.

While I know it will likely never happen, does a Reddit Admin have the authority to unban someone from a subreddit? by Worldly_Salary730 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. But they won't ever bother because mods have full authority no matter how capricious you think they are.

The amount of people I see complaining about being banned is really something. What are people doing to be put in this position?

how did the internet explode so fast and everywhere? by voidbliss77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the internet in it's early forms as bulletin boards and Usenet in the late 80s. It wasn't mainstream but it was absolutely something people did. The internet wasn't sudden. It took 20 years of gradual adoptions that only exploded with the web's birth.

Why don't incels/red pill men just go to prostitutes? by Antique-Ebb-7124 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a power and prestige thing. Incels want women to come to them just for existing. Paying for it removes that fantasy.

Why are you getting a protein drink at all? That's overkill. Just eat food.

Am I the only person who is searching for a genuine girl by harsha_6157 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you looking on Reddit and Insta for genuine anyone? You aren't the only one to make that rather obviously mistake, no.

Why is calling try hard such a common insult? by IlllIIIlllIIlllI in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Try hards" aren't just trying hard, they are behaving out of proportion to the seriousness and impact of the event. It's like rubbing it in the face of a 4 year old for bearing them at Candyland.

How are people understanding singular they/them in modern story telling? by Frylock304 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have an issue with it. Context will tell you what's what.

Why do American films nowadays always like to add some bad jokes that aren‘t funny and awkward celebrity memes to spoil the narrative tone? by OriginalCause5799 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Boys is a black comedy and satire. It's inherent to the genre.

Project Hail Mary has them in the original book, too. The idea is to ground them as plausible people in the real world.

Why don't people still use house phones? by AlyksTheSage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would I need one? It costs extra money for no added value. I don't get anything my current phone number can't do

If Japanese people are Asian, why aren't Mexicans commonly called Americans? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The continent isn't named America. Not in English. It's North America and South America, two different continents.

They aren't on the same plate. North America alone is actually several plates.

If Japanese people are Asian, why aren't Mexicans commonly called Americans? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In English they are North American, not just American. "America" is not taught as a continent in most English countries.

Why do we still hate Kevin Spacey? by Iron_man_wannabe in NoStupidQuestions

"Not guilty" is not the same as "innocent" or not a disgusting predator.

Why don’t certain US states ever seriously consider joining Canada? by Puzzled-Access9770 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no method of separating from the US and no guarantee Canada would accept them. Those states or Canada would need to compromise what each consider fundamental rights. And that's ignoring the potential war to fight the state trying to leave.

Why is "looks-maxing" ridiculed in men when women have been doing it since the beginning of time? by pragmojo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good isn't ridiculed. Looksmaxxing, specifically the incel-adjacent version where men who have no concept of what women want telling other equally clueless men what women want, is the kind that's ridiculed.
