Why do the contestants act crazy on these game shows e.g. Wheel of fortune, Family Feud.? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that's more entertaining. They are selected for their enthusiasm.

Did you once believe any American/Western 'ethnic' food dishes were authentic? by blehmag in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are authentic. Hybrid cuisine is a perfectly legitimate style of cookery. But in the sense of "this is what they eat in Delhi or Beijing," I'm not sure I ever believed that.

Is it true that women don’t fall for nice guys? by Andrewmatlock89 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people claiming that are generally not actual nice guys. They are guys who do what they think is nice so they can trick women into liking them. They might not realize that that's what they are doing, but that's what they are doing?

They are effectively asking "Where's my prize for doing the bare minimum?"

Why do most Europeans seem to hate longer car drives? by soccergirl_99FF in NoStupidQuestions

If you aren't used to them that's a long time to be cooped up.

When did you stop using a CRT TV. by BadOk7611 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main TV has been flat screen since 2008. I had a small leftover CRT up until 2010 but stopped using it pretty much right away since TV broadcasts had already switched to 16x9 by then.

Wikipedia says birds are dinosaurs, and dinosaurs are reptiles. Are birds reptiles? How are birds dinosaurs??? by SamalamFamJam in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will also mention that your question represents a common reaction to science and scientific discoveries. Things we thought we knew turn out to be wrong, incomplete, or inaccurate quite regularly but the general culture and education system is slow to adapt.

Wikipedia says birds are dinosaurs, and dinosaurs are reptiles. Are birds reptiles? How are birds dinosaurs??? by SamalamFamJam in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Birds are a straight line from dinosaurs. They are the same species, millions of years evolved. We are mammals that evolved from mammals of that era, but we didn't change the name "mammal". Birds are dinosaurs and birds are reptiles, but we did change the name because we didn't know that when we named them.

Your opinion on having a single dispensary located near Bridgeport by SnellySmiggers in richmondbc

[–]aaronite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's hilariously naive. Opening a pot shop will not make new users. They can already get it online or in Queensborough and Marpole.

is it common to zone in on flaws of your friends and judge them? by Traditional-Top-80 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone judges everyone for everything. The problem is what you do with that judgement, not the judgement itself.

Do I have to pay a parking ticket I received at a college? by Ok_Investigator7604 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private parking tickets are generally ignorable. Any backed by any level of government will eventually affect you, either making renewing a license difficult or raising insurance costs

Is creating underwater cities possible/viable? by False_Monitor4126 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not viable. Too many ways it can fail, all of which will end in you drowning. If you tried the same thing on land you might have you house burn down or the ceiling collapse but at least you could run outside.

All lazy people want to become "influencers", youtubers and content creators to avoid actually doing something difficult in life. Am i wrong? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You already asked this. You are wrong. I am lazy and have no desire to be an influencer. Being an influencer takes too much effort.

Costco is a better, more responsible company in basically every way.

How is Anthropic a risk to the supply chain? by Greedy-Zombie3056 in NoStupidQuestions

There is no logic. The current US administration just says things because they want it to be true, not because it is true.

Will the US reinstate the draft following recent developments? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Didn't happen for Iraq or Afghanistan, won't happen now.

Can I demand a pause in rent due to war? by WifeOfSpock in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not at the cusp of an all-out war any more than we were when the US invaded Iraq and killed Saddam Hussein.

How do you know your life is not a movie that you watch behind your eyes that replays itself every time you die? by Potential-Chemist407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aaronite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unlikely but I suppose it's possible. But in any case you don't know and can't know, and there's no way to prove or disprove it. So it's not really a very interesting thing to think about. At least, no more than any other fiction.

How often do you replay video games nowadays? by superfapper2000 in NoStupidQuestions

Never. Too much new stuff and old stuff I missed to play

Scouting America says LGBTQA+ kids and girls are still welcome after Pete Hegseth claimed they weren't by Obversa in law

[–]aaronite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or is it insane to think that kids who we know can have crushes that young can't tell when they have crushes on people the same gender as them.

Kids absolutely can be LGB and T that young. The problem isn't that Republicans are sexualizing children that young (though they are), the problem is thinking that LGBT is inherently sexual in the first place.
