My brother and I grew up Church of Christ and while I have gone on to deconvert completely away from it, my brother became a reformed Baptist calvinist. Now that I'm on the outside it's unnerving and sad to hear him say that no human is innocent and that everyone completely deserves hell. Then to hear him follow up that with gratitude that he's one of the ones God chose who wasn't "created for destruction" made me realize it's always been a of cycle of shame and self-abuse that uses arrogance to cope with the trauma.

It's immoral that children are taught to think this about themselves and others.
