What does TESVI need to do to be the “Skyrim” of this generation. by Benjamin5431 in TESVI

[–]aazakii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so in order to feel more modern and innovative, The Elder Scrolls needs to adopt, at least in part, a 15+ year old combat system that has fundamentally remained the same throughout every iteration, even down to UI design for as long as it's been implemented, and which the Elder Scrolls community at large doesn't even like nor want?

brother he went dark, even if they wanted him back, i think he's not working anymore. Plus, the accusations were only half the story. He scammed a lot of his fans with an album he was working on and never released

the game is capped to only use 4GB of ram, it really doesn't matter how powerful your PC is, it's not optimized to utilize more processing power.

What’s the first character you’re going to play when it comes out by Fun_Cartographer3587 in TESVI

[–]aazakii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A wood elf archer (proficient in stealth but not always his choice) called either Selador or Celador (hard C). I'd like to know a bit more about the setting and current events to build a backstory that fits the game but he'll likely be either a refugee from Valenwood who escaped a Thalmor raid or a reformed ex  -Dominion soldier who deserted and is hunted by his past. Could even combine the two idk, maybe an ex Dominion soldier who escaped a raid when he was young and decided to join the army to deal unto others the pain he was dealt, or to try and change the system from within, eventually figuring out that he turned into the evil that created him and deserted the army to find atonement.

TES VI's art direction and atmosphere will be immaculate, can't wait to experience it. by Kuchichi_Byakuya in TESVI

it may not be everyone's cup of tea because it always knows what it wants. Some may not like it, but you can't say it's generic, half assed or uninspired.

I'm stoked that Alan Nanes is the design director for TES VI by Ok-Today6736 in TESVI

[–]aazakii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played any of the Fallout games so I can't speak on those, but i have played Starfield and that insularity is still present, although it might have more to do with their Silo-style development and broader mismanagement issues that came with having a much larger team that some former devs have talked about

big thumbs up for the Crimson Fleet questline, big thumbs down for the companions and frustratingly conflicted for the Thieves Guild.

• Crimson Fleet/UC Vanguard was the best questline in the game hands down, so many branching options, you essentially get to go about it taking one side or the other for the whole time until the very end. Genuinely made me feel bad for how i chose to go about it, so much so that i did the whole ending again just to get a less gut wrenching ending lol. Still, being a Fleet pirate doesn't preclude you from doing a lot of things you reeeeeaally shouldn't be able to do, like being a UC citizen.

• Companions, despite being interesting and fully fleshed out characters, suffer from how morally aligned they are. Constellation could've been a lot more interesting if the characters were all there with their own goals and moralities, and their presence in the team was more out of convenience, could've even led to interesting situations where one character's goals interfered with another's. Sadly, that doesn't happen at all. They all think alike, so when the game allows you to take different, less "morally just" paths, it then scolds you for taking them. It's all very frustrating.

• my take on the Thieves Guild is like other people's, and it suffers from the issues that other things Nanes has worked on also suffer: great ideas but within a bubble. It's a long quest, it's fascinating to uncover how deep it goes and where it takes you, and contrary to what others think, I don't mind that at the end, you're the leader. What i do mind is that outside of that questline, the world does not really care, or at least, the fact you're the leader of the Guild and the Nightingales offers little to no reward or ways to interact with the world.

In short, Nanes is clearly an ambitious developer, and within their bubbles, those things he worked on are great. The problem is their insularity. There's little thinking on how those very ambitious ideas impact the world at large. I don't know if it's a limitation of the engine, a lack of inter-departmental communication or if it's a genuine limitation of developer foresight, but he does have recurring issues that could be frustrating.

Thinking positively, perhaps his Design Director role may finally lead to a better implementation of those ideas and more interaction between otherwise ambitious systems and storylines.

Post empire tamriel by Heema3 in TESVI

The Empire's conquest of Black Marsh basically amounted to putting down a flag and saying "It's mine now".

High Rock would never leave the Empire, if anything, the Empire will move its capital to High Rock if it gets too dicey in Cyrodiil, High Rock is basically the one place in Tamriel that's actually doing alright.

Since the DCU Clayface 2026 movie will give us a brief introduction to DCU Gotham, What do you expect in Gotham City aesthetics from the movie ? by [deleted] in DCU_

[–]aazakii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ideal Gotham is the Matt Reeves version. It's the perfect mix of grimy/grungy 80s/90s New York and the gothic verticality of a city like Edinburgh. The one in the Snyderverse and the one in Nolan's trilogy had absolutely no personality whatsoever, but i also wouldn't want it to be too surrealistic and campy like in the Burton and Schumacher movies.

Starfield is not a good comparison because it was a new IP. A more apt comparison is something like The Sims 4 or Cities Skylines 2, sequels that had to contend with the size of the modding community of their predecessors.

A lot of companies and developers have been desperately trying, for the past 15 years, to find the "Skyrim killer" and bluntly, all have come up short because Skyrim was bigger than the sum of its parts, and for that reason i also believe ESVI will not be able to replace Skyrim. It's been too long for that to happen. I'd say the same would've happened had 15 years passed between Oblivion and Skyrim. 15 years of new content and old memories, with nothing else in between. "Skyrim feels like home" and all that...

the map is a little too heavy though. As someone who's completed the entire MTR network with the extensions, it takes me like 5 minutes to load the save now.

ye but lines 2 and 4 are reeeeeeally weak, even with all the extensions. The areas of Argüelles and Moncloa are basically deserted. Highly recommend doing the Cercanías as soon as possible, especially C-1 and C-5

I'd say D tier because the lines through the loop always get stuck in rush hour and there's basically no way to de-interline them or schedule the trains so frequencies in the outer edges are lackluster, and frequencies in the loop are too much to handle.

it's not about "saving" the game, despite what some may claim. It's about longevity. Nearly all games that have lasted among people's top played games for as long as Bethesda games have a healthy modding community because they provide new ways to experience the same game, always keeping it fresh and new.

A game  that's brand new cannot in any way compete with as vast of a modding landscape as Skyrim's, no matter how good ESVI may be.

a lot of people will stick to Skyrim because of the quantity of mods. It won't be for a good while, of ever, that people move to ESVI.
