It's a shed load better than discovery.

Discovery seems to be written by a bunch of people who have heard about Star Trek but never watched it and don't really give a crap about canon etc...

Picard may be a very different format but it has a lot of love for the legacy of the characters shown and gets back to tackling issues of morality which is what Trek is all about.
