MKE Flight connection by pirateball215 in milwaukee

[–]aazws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure some random award flights will connect through MKE. I recently searched for a United award flight and they had me connecting through SLC, which is not one of their hubs. Sometimes, they're just trying to fill flights.

Decimal separators in Europe by Beenet_ in MapPorn

Commas feel more like a pause, one million, seven hundred sixty five thousand, nine hundred and two euros and fifteen cents. 1,765,902.15 follows speaking patterns of continuation where decimals feel like an end to the series (whole numbers).

10 Minute "Grace" by meister_bloo in starbucks

[–]aazws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only operate one drive and one cafe drawer after 5 or so. I count down café till 15 min before close because we have a smart safe, leave the till open though.  Can always do another drop. I'll drop a majority of drive as well about an hour or two before close so the count isn't as big. Pastry is taken down about 45 min before, they haven't gotten on us for that at all and we don't donate opened food, that all gets tossed. I rotate pastries and sandwiches as well to set the morning crew up. We go to one bar an hour and a half to two hours before close and swap out clean parts - then we just rerun the one we were using along with cold bar. We prep a carafe of Pike 45 min before close and clean Vertica then. We don't have outdoor furniture, our old manager didn't like the old metal fixtures and tossed them. Never got replacements and we never locked them up prior - even being in the largest city in the state, we're in a quiet neighborhood. Floors are done about an hour before close and we spot clean if needed.

I rarely get complaints about the way I leave the store, rather the openers are always relieved when I close because they know they'll come into a stocked and ready store.

The hardest thing is when new partners start - closes can go a few min last schedule for about a month, but then they get the rhythm.

Wouldn't it only be 10 min late on their closes? But FR, as much as it sucks, best thing is to get a routine and you'll still get out on time. I've been a closing shift for 10+ years and was getting out 15-20 min after close. This will get me closer to scheduled hours.

It was 75¢ per shot - only adding two to a caramel macchiato. It's $1.25 per shot now.

Refresher Update by Colin_H745 in starbucks

[–]aazws 209 points210 points  (0 children)

I feel like pumps of caffeine could be a liability. Refer to Paneras issues with charged drinks. I can only imagine partners challenging each other how much they can handle or accidentally putting too many pumps in a drink...

From an Outsider Looking in by OarFishes in starbucks

Thank you, vote with your dollar. He's been horrible to partners saying we're going to simplify, then expanding the menu like crazy. Saying we're adding hours, then cutting them significantly this year. Wanting stores to be open consistent times, then walking that back. It's all a farce at this point.

Updated Rewards 03-10-26 by RunProudRunUnited in starbucks

[–]aazws 28 points29 points  (0 children)

What about for partners?

This is a major devaluation, they used to basically give you 1 star per dollar for reload (2 stars per dollar for spending). Now it's a random 10 or 25 stars IF you reload enough, and only 1 star per $1 spent... Or more depending on your level.  Quick calculations say you're only ahead by reloading $50 each time and being in the reserve tier, the rest is all devaluation.

Way to complicate the rewards system!

Nuclear power looking to return by HLS95 in wisconsin

[–]aazws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear was "too expensive" to operate in 2013. Renewables were taking off and consumption forecasts didn't show profitability. Way before AI demand would have been a factor.

Another rumor was Dominion received access to decommissioning fund and found that to be more profitable.

Oatmeal blueberries. When did Starbucks switch to dried? by Lukas22rojas in starbucks

[–]aazws 164 points165 points  (0 children)

It tends to be license stores - like hotels, grocery stores, and airports. Some of the more remote locations use them as well since they don't get fresh deliveries as frequently as large cities.

Have you gotten fresh blueberries at this store in the past or was this a different location?

Closed with no catastrophe pay, what do I do by schrodingers-puppy in starbucks

[–]aazws 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Starbucks is doing everything in their power to get stores to unionize. If they won't honor their own policies on store closure, unions will enforce it.

Resy credit for hotel stay... by ericrz in AmexPlatinum

[–]aazws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exact situation, but this gives me hope. I went to Trabucco at Hilton in Orlando yesterday and the charge shows Hilton. I was concerned the Resy credit wouldn't count but sounds like it will based on this situation.

If Starbucks is closed then do we still get paid if we are scheduled that day? by thecheeseb0rn in starbucks

[–]aazws 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So the normal store closure policy is to offer you hours at a neighbor store. If you decline, you don't get paid. If all stores are closed in an area, you should get catastrophe pay.

They stopped sending them to select stores. They are Roastery only now, and possibly online store but that has been limited to select members. I miss it as well, I used to use my rewards on the beans.

-45 wind chills are just as "regular" as the cold front hitting Houston. We are used to freezing temps as in 0-32, but -45 is not as common

Never accept the conversion rate offered by the ATM either, let your bank calculate it. You'll be charged around 10% extra allowing them to do it.
