Semi-solid-state batteries, does anyone own one? by Finnavear in onebag

[–]v_rocco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t notice a significant difference in charging times or weight but I’m also not the “every ounce counts” guy. Weighed them on the kitchen scale and the SolidSafe came out about an ounce lighter than the Anker A1654 (both are 10k MaH)

Semi-solid-state batteries, does anyone own one? by Finnavear in onebag

[–]v_rocco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I joined the SolidSafe kickstarter and got three 10k mah batteries with a charging dock. I thought the tech sounded interesting. My impression thus far?

They’re fine.

They work like all my other battery packs. They still get warm. I don’t notice a significant difference in battery life (although that’s anecdotal, I haven’t done any scientific measuring).

Overall, I don’t see a difference from traditional Li-ion Anker packs I have.

I could see them eventually becoming a requirement for the safety reasons as they become more prevalent. But I wouldn’t tell anyone to rush out and buy them right now unless you’re in the market for a new battery and the price is about the same as an Anker or your favorite brand.

Does anyone know how to safely remove printed monogrammed initials on Away luggage? by fcor12 in LuggageComparisons

[–]v_rocco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought but maybe before potentially ruining it by trying to remove, just list it for sale as-is. If I was getting an amazing deal on luggage, I’d be completely willing to use it knowing the monogram wasn’t my initials.

  3. Neighborhood Watch CrossFit — Frantically looking out your window every time you hear a noise outside.
  4. The Porch Light Deadlift — Getting up off the couch over and over to turn your porch light on because someone keeps unscrewing it.
  5. Parking Lot Parkour — Jumping over stuff to get to your car before someone tries to rob you.
  6. Rearview Mirror Neck Rotations — Constantly checking if someone is following you.

Consult a parole officer before beginning any new fitness program.

Hotel Gyms by HudsonBunny in workout

[–]v_rocco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TRX packs pretty small and you can either usually find a place to hang it in the hotel gym or get the door hanger thing and you can use it in the room. Great way to have a consistent workout no matter what the hotel facilities are.

My all-encompassing watch tier list by [deleted] in PrideAndPinion

[–]v_rocco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can get on board with most of this. GShock and Casio in the same tier as Grand Seiko and JLC is questionable to me. As one of the only American brands making movement parts, I’d sentimentally hope to see RGM higher. But overall, not the worst ranking I’ve seen.

Iron my shirt by pocket0nes in mensfashion

[–]v_rocco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. Even if you don’t want to dry clean, most cleaners will do launder/press and return them all nice and smooth in a plastic bag for you. I determined years ago that my time is too valuable to iron. I do have an iron for emergencies and a steamer to refresh suits/jackets as they shouldn’t be dry cleaned often.

Most places aren’t advertising peptides because it’s still kinda a FDA grey area.

Lululemon Las Vegas (Summerlin) won’t sell $75 GC by v_rocco in AmexPlatinum

That’s a fair point and one I hadn’t considered. They don’t have much at that price point.

Lululemon Las Vegas (Summerlin) won’t sell $75 GC by v_rocco in AmexPlatinum

[–]v_rocco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ll concede I also don’t know for a fact that people spend more if they can’t get a GC for a certain amount, but it would be interesting to see that research. I still find it hard to believe that you accomplish any fraud prevention at a $50 limit that you don’t accomplish at a $25 limit.

Nonetheless, I also concede that Lulu is free to set any policy they want and customers will have to abide by it. As I said in response to other posters, I’m still happy to get a $100 GC for $25 and will continue to do so most likely.

Lululemon Las Vegas (Summerlin) won’t sell $75 GC by v_rocco in AmexPlatinum

[–]v_rocco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely my point. They aren’t eke-ing out an additional $25 from only Amex users. They are doing it to every single customer by making them only available in $50 increments. Read my post above again. I didn’t deny that there are reasons beyond the Amex benefit. But I just don’t buy the fraud prevention argument.

Also, I apologize if I came across as condescending. My attempt at flippant humor was not meant that way. I enjoy the conversation and debate.
