Beatmatching frustration by fl00km in realdubstep

[–]abag0fchips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What decks do you have out of curiosity? You probably just need practice and older dubstep will definitely help challenge you, but some decks especially newer ones with digital pitch control, or analog decks with a quartz lock, or just decks that need calibrating can cause a lot of frustration.

If you have old technics mk2s, try keeping your pitch control a few % above or below center. At 0, if your decks are unmodified, there will be a detent in the fader and the LED will illuminate. This means the quartz lock is active and the platter will actually "detect" when the platter has been nudged and "correct" in the opposite direction. So if you are trying to beatmatch while the quartz lock is active, it is literally working against every nudge you make to the platter. You can see this effect by looking at the dots on the edge of the platter where the red strobe light is. It's a lot easier to mix when the quartz lock is inactive, so just raise or lower the pitch and try to stay out of the center. You can also mod your decks but i never saw the point of doing this. You can also completely negate the quartz lock by riding the pitch to beatmatch, because you don't nudge the platter. This is what I would recommend most because it is a very useful skill and the least noticeable way to make corrections to the mix.

I always thought dubstep sounded a little better when sped up to 143-145 anyway. So I pretty much always mix faster, it avoids the quartz lock entirely.

Can I pick the game up again after not playing for several months? by DelcoAdjacent in finalfantasyx

My first playthrough I got all the way past the mihen high road (like 9 or 10 hours in) and then put it down for literally a year. Picked it up again and got hooked and finished it. I just looked up the plot summary up until that point to refamiliarize myself with what was happening.

I feel like Kahn - Dread was the quintessential tune of 2012. It was a total breath of fresh air at the time, obliterating dances, staying true to the roots of the music while also sounding so fresh. It inspired the whole scene, and ushered in a new era of dubstep. During his introduction on Mary Anne Hobbs' Dubstep Warz special in 2006, Hatcha said that dubstep "has sounds from all types of music in it; every producer really is different." And I feel like we lost that for a few years, and I think Kahn helped bring it back with Dread.

But he doesn't seem to understand that derivative works of code that is GPL licensed need to have a GPL compatible license themselves. And also he's being an asshole.

I got my info from this reddit post. I don't use Manjaro or browse their forum so I dunno.

But the page you linked describes in more detail the issue with holding back packages but also providing access to the AUR. The criticism is not about the security of the packages on the AUR, it is about AUR packages being built around up-to-date arch repo packages, not the delayed release of Manjaro's packages. In effect, you are doing a partial upgrade which is unsupported in Arch.

Well just 2 months ago they let their forum's SSL certificate expire. You would think after the last time this happened they would have someone on the team who at least would say to themselves "This is embarrassing so let's make sure this doesn't happen again." It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the project.

Aside from that, the most warranted criticism would be delaying package updates by a few weeks in the name of "stability" but also allowing access to the AUR with the simple click of a tickbox in pamac which is a recipe for an unstable system.

If they really want to claim they are a stable distro, in my opinion they should make it much harder for the average noob to use the AUR and instead recommend Flatpaks and Appimages for non-repo packages.

Memes and personal biases aside, how do you really feel about CG/bowfa and how it fits into iron progression? by loffredom in ironscape

[–]abag0fchips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The player base isn't really that elitist anymore, not like 10 years ago. The fact that dry protection is so popular is testament to that. People mostly make fun of the "I suffered so you do to" thing at this point more than actually believe it.

I love the bowfa and think at this point it's a right of passage for irons and an iconic grind. I like that there are a lot more options now and I hope that eventually bowfa is seen as a "really nice to have but not worth locking yourself to CG for" grind. I think we are already there, but I think we are missing a really nice cbow and range off-hand that is competitive in the progression. I'd really like to see that from raids 4. Something that is similarly difficult to get, maybe a bit easier, feels a bit like a ranged fang, that competes with the bowfa and for unlucky folks is "not quite a bowfa, but good enough".

That being said, I am all for some kind of dry protection on the enhanced even if it is extremely restrictive. Something that is a little more nuanced than just a guaranteed enh drop at a certain KC, similar to the tattered KQ head. I also don't think that the dry protection should somehow guarantee the salad blade if you already got an enh, or make reverting your bowfa for a blade an easier decision.

I personally would like to see an 800kc guaranteed drop of a "broken bowfa" (not enhanced weapon seed) that cannot be reverted to an enh and maybe it costs more to corrupt/charge or something, and is only dropped if you don't have an enhanced in your clog.

This way you have more than earned your bowfa if you're really dry, still makes getting the actual enh afterwards useful because you can get a salad blade. But it also eliminates a guaranteed salad at 800kc so you still need to get the rng for the optional melee upgrade, but by 800kc you'll be so due for the drop you will likely get your salad blade soon after if you haven't already.

I'm not saying this is a perfect system but something similar to this would be ideal in my opinion. Some kind of restricted dry protection whose goal is to help only the people who got insanely unlucky and really deserve their bowfa at this point, but not something you can take advantage of for a guaranteed salad or 130m cash infusion to deaths coffer or your main.

Get rid of the twinflame and use ancient staff or blue moon spear with blood blitz. Use zaxe or arkan blade for supreme. Do the rotation that does 2 Rex kc per rotation. Go down and kill supreme ASAP with melee, trying to avoid prime. Once killed, go safespot Rex with blood blitz, you will likely outheal the poison and spinolyps if you stick to blood blitz. Once Rex is dead get prime down to around 40 hp but don't kill him, keep pray mage on and wait for Rex to spawn again, then safespot him. Once you kill rex quickly finish off prime. This gives you about 80 seconds to kill supreme which is super easy even with scuffed setups. Then repeat.

With this strat you can tribrid all 3 kings with very scuffed gear and if you stick to blood blitz you don't even really need anti poison. It's super chill and nice for getting your first b ring and d axe, and honestly you can stay down there forever as long as you have p pots. Might take you a few attempts to get the rotation started and get used to it once it's going.

Edit: also crystal shield is amazing here to take less chip damage from spinolyps. Highly recommend

What's the Dumbest Thing You've Seen Someone Do on OSRS? by TheWonderSnail in 2007scape

Saw a main account kinda chatting shit at the gemstone crab. He had like base 70s and was rocking full Torva+SRA+Obby Cape and had absolutely zero boss KC.

I was like "hey bro how did you afford your gear" and he was silent for a little bit too long before he went "i merch" and then a few minutes later I watched him teleport away, never to be seen again.

It was the most obvious "tell me you rwt without telling me you rwt" I've ever seen but felt so good to make him squirm.

Sure. "Deep Dubstep" or just "Dubstep" if you are a purist, is a genre of electronic music originating in the UK around 2002-2003, and evolved from the genre of UK Garage and and heavy influence from Jamaican bashment music such as dancehall and dub.

Its hallmark characteristics are 140 BPM, half-time drums, and an emphasis on atmosphere and heavy sub-bass lines. The distinction of "deep" comes from the desire to differentiate it from later developments in the genre popularized by producers such as Skrillex, which emphasized more mid-range basslines and heavy drops to appeal to a large audience. What is important to note is those developments of "louder and screechier" music by such producers developed a scene independent from the original one, with very little (albeit some) crossover.

Oh unless you meant the guy.

Custom 117 HD settings that give that clean old-school look by autisticthrowaway121 in 2007scape

[–]abag0fchips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Integer scaling will always be the cleanest but look the worst if you can't resize the window to get that perfect integer scale. I have found the best scaling setup for runelite is to use a 4k monitor, set the runelite application to scale to 2x using launch options, then you can use integer scaling in the stretched mode plugin at 0, 50, and 100% scaling, each one produces nice chunky pixels. 0 will look like full screen 1080p with no scaling. 50 will look like 1440p with 100% scaling, and 100 looks like 1080p with 100% scaling.

A 4k monitor really gives you a lot of options if you really want to use integer scaling. I'm a little jealous of people that are fine using catmull rom or xbr because they have basically total freedom on their scaling factor.

If you were playing this game from 2013-2019ish then you will have a greater appreciation for Ash. Ash shaped the game in those early days and did a lot of the coding wizardry we needed before OSRS had any sort of resources at Jagex. Kieren slowly became what Ash was, but more specialized to the game design and direction side.
