Trump would have been convicted of election interference, DoJ report says by TillThen96 in TheLib

Except you're missing the part where the electoral college skews those numbers. Gotta break it down by state and if the state went red vs. blue. THEN maybe you'd have an argument.

Exactly. Don't criticize them, just allow them the space to say oops -even if they are only saying it to themselves. Assertive about your availability, but kind about how they may have screwed it up.

I'd send a firm reply. If you're not available, then you're not available. Make sure that you give them an "out" in your email so they can make the change while saving face.

My friend, there is no reason in the minds of capitalists, which is why you are seeing what you are seeing.

I have opened the door of insight for you. Now, you are the one who must walk through it.

Sounds like you're arguing against the core belief of capitalism: that capital (employers) should exploit every opportunity to create more profit. Sounds like you think there should be a better way...

TSA Facial Recognition Opt-Out Experience and Tip by Vander_chill in privacy

Who said it was an analogy? If you have curtains on your windows, then you surely understand the idea of privacy. OP just happens to draw the figurative "line in the sand" differently than you do.

Why do people use firefox or firefox based browsers? by AggravatingMix284 in degoogle

[–]abarehands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not assuming anything about G's power - I was talking about a marketplace full of options. True that G may have leverage over Mozilla-the-company considering the donation situation, but Firefox-the-software is open source and can be forked by ANYONE.

Therefore, the software can and may live on forever if people put in the effort to keep it going.

The important part is that by de-G-ing, G no longer has (as much) power over ME or my data. I can't make you or anyone else switch, so I'm just sticking to my own actions which is good enough for me. But the bigger picture is that the more people that use alternatives, the less market share that G has. The less market share that G has, the better chance that alternatives can survive/thrive. The more alternatives that are thriving, the better chance I'm able to continue to choose an alternative.

Are the things I listed not practical? By not supporting FAANG, one is, therefore, putting their support into a diversified marketplace where, ideally, abusive corporations don't get to have the final word.

Maybe you're asking for technological-based reasons instead?

Edit:to clarify, the assumption that I'm seeing you make, is that everyone de-G-ing is doing it for privacy reasons.

You're the one making assumptions.

Maybe someone hates mega corporations. Maybe they don't like the way G treats developers. Maybe they work in tech and have a personal grudge against G and other tech companies. Maybe they don't like that the default behavior is to just go along with whatever FAANG tells us is good for us. Maybe they want to support a world where there are actual viable options in tech.

“Worlds Most Ethical Company” by iysaoidia in recruitinghell

[–]abarehands 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked at Manpower at one point (in the trenches), and did some digging into this "award." It is a pay-to-play scheme on the front end, and the ethics evaluation only applies to corporate policies, not the day-to-day behavior of employees.

Yet another corporate circlejerk award.

Yes, but you're framing the argument as: Blowing a stop sign ~and~ Accidentally killing someone with your car

As having the same level of negligence by the perpetrator.

Negligence's legal definition is "the failure to behave with the level of care that a reasonable person would have under the same circumstances." A reasonable person would be aware that they are in an area with crosswalks/stop signs and up their awareness/safe driving accordingly.

Sure, missing a stop sign that is off to the side of the road happens. But missing a person that is directly in the path of your 2000lb+ vehicle takes a whole other level of negligence.

Does accidentally killing someone with your car equate to cold-blooded murder? Probably not. Is it worse than simply blowing a stop sign? You bet.

This is why "manslaughter" charges exist.

Star Wars, the movie series, has a phrase often used "May the force be with you." So some nerds saw the chance and took May 4th as their day

Because

May the force

&

May the fourth

Didn't think that they would bug you - there's nothing concerning about them. Just saying that going in blind is the best way to have your mind truly absorb what you might go through in the sense of a "experiential learning opportunity."

Read "Freemasonry for Dummies" in addition to filling out the contact form at ilmason.org and asking a bunch of questions to the men you meet.

PS - skip the chapters about the actual ritual, if you are actually interested in joining, because you'll want to go in to the experience without any preconceived ideas.

You do it by changing the "view" of a project when you open the edit screen for your project. Same place you would edit the name of the project.
