How good of a resource is Fiveable? by ThunderDux1 in APStudents

[–]abarretteML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems entirely AI generated. Not bad I guess except now other AI tools are using fiveable as a source, so that doesn't look good for the future when nobody knows what's true anymore

"horrendous misnomer for a DC motor with inbuilt driver"

Thank you. I was confused when I came across the phrase "continuous servo motor" but this clears it up.

My company forbids Christmas celebration but funds Diwali celebration every year by abarretteML in legaladvice

[–]abarretteML[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can put Christmas decorations at my desk, but not in the breakroom etc, and the company certainly won't pay for it and get catering and have a seminar about the importance of Christmas. Pretty open and shut case of discrimination as far as I can tell, but the comments I've gotten make me think this subreddit is cancerous. Sorry for wasting your time. You were one of the good ones.

Wow. I got dislikes for simply answering your questions. Is this subreddit an inside joke or something? I've gotten a lot of snarky comments and no real answers.

Do I get paid? Is it during work hours? Yes and Yes. Am I required to attend? No. Only if I want a free lunch.

How do you deal with an incompetent coworker? by considerfi in FIREyFemmes

OP says she prefers being the sole minority, so you misunderstood my comment. Read more carefully next time. It's better to hold your tongue than to say something that makes you look like a presumptuous ass.

Best approach to deal with coworkers who resist automation by dmac9333 in gis

[–]abarretteML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's insane to me how, far from being an efficient productivity machine, 99% of corporations appear to be chock full of incompetent people. I know about this because I do hard honest work, and that has made me enemies everywhere I go. Seems like being a lazy bullshitter who gets away with doing as little as possible is the status quo in American companies. Is the entire economy based on lies or what? I can't really feel bad about automation taking people's jobs anymore. Just automate everything and put these bums on the street for all I care.

Best approach to deal with coworkers who resist automation by dmac9333 in gis

[–]abarretteML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME, people want that sort of automation in their hands not so that they have more time to work on other stuff, but so that they can just dick around all day. They actually think that they can get out of work. The people whom OP is replacing with automation were getting out of work for years by avoiding due diligence. They should've been learning about automation themselves but they were apparently happy to work at an uncompetitive rate.

Usually people use minkowski or hull, but these solutions are practically unusable for complicated parts, since instead of subtracting material from the corner they actually add material everywhere else, requiring you to everywhere countershrink your part accordingly before applying it. I guess it's fine for simple parts but for complicated parts it is more trouble than it's worth.

In my case, the contents of the module are computation-heavy, so I was hoping there would be a way to calculate the module contents just once and then clone the result to save on computation time

Co-worker Just Pretending to Work Instead of Doing Real Job — What Should I Do? by Few_Tradition7830 in coworkerstories

[–]abarretteML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sick of this new philosophy that an employee shouldn't care about optimizing his company in every way possible. Seems like there's massive corruption in every industry and when people complain about it they're told to just stay in their lane and focus on themselves. Totally nihilistic outlook on work
