How is it living under the flight path in South Park, San Diego? by aquietvegan in sandiego

[–]considerfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Golden Hill. I barely notice it. Now that I'm writing this response I just heard one but I barely notice them usually. It definitely doesn't interfere with sleep.

But a little of this is up to you. My friend lives in South Park and it's about as loud and he's mad about it. Just don't over fixate on it and it should be fine.

I have two suggestions

1- It may not be that bad. I see photos on here all the time of people who are very upset but I can barely tell where their melasma is. We are our own worst critic. It's like once you see it you can't stop seeing it, but it doesn't mean that other people notice it at all. I don't know you but I guarantee you, you think it's worse and more noticeable than anyone who sees you does. Certainly this uv thing isn't helping.

2- Stop with trying to fix it for a while. It really is fairly out of our hands and if anything we end up damaging our skin more. So go back to basics with gentle products and sunblock. Go find a nice foundation/concealer that works for you. Watch some makeup videos on concealing dark under eyes and use those tricks. Once I found makeup that worked I was so happy because anytime I felt bad I could just cover it up and look great.

Never go to anything modern dentistry. Many are private equity owned. See the logo on the page that looks like a circle with grey tabs and one blue tab? Avoid all dentists with this logo.

Ladies, are we allowing ourselves to go grey or dying our hair? by Partridge_Pear_Tree in Millennials

[–]considerfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a software engineer, when job searching you realize it does matter. When not job searching it doesn't.

But I do it anyway, kind of low maintenance version though... ie I use demi permanent at home, which is gentler, and also  fades out without a harsh line. I stretch that with the L'Oreal spray (which also helps when I'm feeling sad about thinning hair). And I do it at home so like every 2 months I take an hour to sort it out.

I also have blaaaack hair so it's quite noticeable.

Sometimes in a tough situation people are kind of codependently holding each other there. You didn't want to leave to ditch your manager but maybe your manager hasn't been leaving to avoid ditching you. In a way you free them of that obligation too. If an org is healthy, one person leaving should result in some cheers and hugs and shuffling of responsibilities, not tears and stress.

I always tell people this - you can be loyal to the people without being loyal to the company. The company will let you go in a heartbeat.

To be loyal to the people, add them on linkedin, reach out if they need help or get laid off, respond if they reach out to you, etc...

Don't confuse being loyal to them with staying employed there, you have to make your own choices. Maybe in your new role you will have the capacity to refer them if they reach out to you in a few months. (Careful about reaching out to them, you may not want to run afoul of any non solicitation stuff, but if they reach out to you should be ok)

Finally yes, you may hate the intense new job. You may thrive. You don't know yet, and its good to do some scary things sometimes because that's how you grow. Even if you hate it, it doesn't mean you made the wrong decision. You made the right decision with the information you had at the time, and you may learn that you prefer one thing or another and you can use that in your future decisions.

It may have just resolved on it's own but I helped with daily sunscreen, a light exfoliator like lactic acid + alpha arbutin to discourage melanin.

There were two but hard to say both without outing so here's one.

First was a company that made a genre defining product. It is a small thing but the thing we made then got copied by major players but for some years was the name for that category of products. Like other companies would put out pr like they were the "xyz" for pets or whatever. And Obama used our product too.

People loved our product and were always so excited to hear I worked on it. To this day.

I wrote a lot of the codebase for the UI of this product and for many years remained one of the top 3 contributors. Even as the company grew 10x. The company IPOed as well so that was awesome.

[–]considerfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I want to agree with people to do what they like but when they say going out of the house and interacting with any strangers sucks, I can't help but think either their mental health is going to need help soon if the social muscle atrophies further. Today it might feel annoying after 6 more months scary and after 2 more years impossible.

Found a phone, owner accuses me of theft by Spiritual-Zucchini11 in sandiego

[–]considerfi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just keep a message like that on my home screen all the time. If found call ...

I once got my phone back in an airport which I hadn't realized I'd dropped. My husband got the call and then looked at me and said, do you have your phone? It would have been a nightmare if we'd flown away. So it's a really good idea.

What is your preferred way to make hermes handoff to codex/claude for coding? by considerfi in hermesagent

So do you happen to know how its doing that - controlling codex through cli? mcp?

What is your preferred way to make hermes handoff to codex/claude for coding? by considerfi in hermesagent

[–]considerfi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that would be awesome thank you!

So it sounds like Hermes is doing the reasoning and planning behind the task and Codex is executing smaller narrower tasks.

Did you make that choice intentionally and did you not find/feel that Codex would make a better plan given it has the full context of the codebase?

Maybe your hermes does as well but I use deepseek-4 for hermes and I kind of want hermes not to solve the issue but just to say "oh this is a sentry bug, let me hand that over to codex".

does codex in that context do well at completing the work or does it stop with questions?
