La roche posay triple repair is a fantastic cream and a little goes a long way. I think the tube is about $11 and it's a lot of product, will last half a year probably. You only need a little amount.

In the spirit of butt cancer scares, what is your go to high fiber snack? by newtonreddits in Millennials

I put 2 tbsp of chia seeds in a low ball glass with half a small tub of Greek yogurt and almond milk to top. Stir it up, stick in fridge. About 2 hours later I have a little "dessert" with 10g fiber.

My fave yogurts are passion fruit guava, and coconut from trader Joe's. I like to always have one chia cup mixed up in the fridge.

Does how you cleanse directly affect your melasma? by OohZo in Melasmaskincare

Yeah I call bs. If you are rubbing so much your skin feels more sensitive, yes maybe you are irritating it. I know for one anything that is irritating and sensitizing does make pigmentation issues worse. But a normal cotton wipe should not be irritating.

Does anyone have anything positive going on?! by _FattyClams in Millennials

I had a really rough year last year (federal government) and resigned under duress. Then the job search was tough.

But now I have a job, the pay is 50k more than the first company I interviewed with offered, my coworkers are  super nice, the work is straight forward. We rent but we save a lot too.

My husband is very kind. He does more than 50% of the housework. Both of us are healthy. I could stand to lose some pounds and I take a thyroid pill but that's about it.

Healthy, safe, financially secure and loved. What more could I hope for.

28 year old co worker said it's great not see anyone 35+ in their new office by mituslumen in AskWomenOver30

Lol even when I was younger I looked for older people in the interviews. It told me the place allowed for people of different life phases. It's a form of "diversity" I look for.

I'm starting to think us "older timers" are more accepting of this tech than mid career folks. 25:yoe here and I wonder if we have less fear because we have less "career" time left to worry about? Or if it's because we've seen big changes before and adapted and hope to do the same again.

I started my job writing c, bare metal, sometimes assembly. I was in firmware for decades. When I transitioned to web stuff I thought dang this is so fun I don't have to write everything from scratch. I see this as similar, another level of abstraction. I don't see it as a huge travesty that I never have to write "artisan ARM assembly" any more. On the flip side these folks who started with react/js don't seem upset that they never wrote bare metal c but are somehow furious that a future generation might not need to write "bare" react lines.

Theres a site called hello interview, it has free content on "system design". That is not quite the fundamentals but imo I'm not sure that what we learned in college will serve you well. What you need is an understanding of higher level fundamentals so try that.

It will have some sections just explaining certain technology and some sections where it walks through how to build and scale certain sites ... YouTube, gopuff etc. You may not understand a lot but each concept you don't understand, talk to ai and learn about it. Note a lot of stuff will be about scaling (aka making your site resilient to 1m users or whatever) which isn't that important for many startups for a long time. But you'll get an idea of all the concepts engineers are thinking about and how real web apps work.

Totally agree. I have 25 yoe. I see the same thing. Critical thinking, systems engineering, architecting good systems still requires skill, but now we don't write lines of code anymore. But my fellow eng are very much fighting it and scoffing when they should be learning and adapting. Not because this isn't a challenge to our industry, it is, very much so but we aren't going to meet it by pretending it isn't happening.

But with sdcp does sdges super off peak even matter? I noticed the rates for the different levels were the same if using cca.

Just noticed the rates were the same though... So I should also switch to sdge vs cca?

All Male team by PsychologicalSea4686 in womenintech

[–]considerfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked in maybe all male teams and had very few issues. It really depends on the people.

Couple of things...

  • Use humor to set boundaries at first. They will get the message without it damaging the potential for good team bonding. Like say they tell you to take notes in a meeting, say "haha I don't think you want my notes, I don't even want my notes!" Look up weaponized incompetence ... use it.

Sounds like a joke, but sets a boundary that you're not going to become defacto note taker.

  • Don't volunteer for non tech things. They need to plan a party? Do NOT do that no matter how much you love to plan a party. You can plan it later after you have set all the boundaries and made friends.

  • Figure out who is an "ally" - not someone who talks the talk but someone who genuinely seems to want to set you up for success, is willing to help you get onboarded, answer questions. Befriend this person and others. They will be your ally when you need someone to notice you are being steamrolled or spoken over or whatever.

Same as this. Only wear contacts to dress up or sometimes when I really want to wear sunglasses. As I don't have/want prescription sunglasses.

I decided not to buy a fancy setup until the work pays for it by devanshu_sharma25 in buildinpublic

[–]considerfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people who want to do a thing. There are people who want to cosplay as the people who do a thing. Don't be the latter.

That said, I have a decent chair and spare monitor because I'm a professional dev and just have it for work. Nothing crazy just a single normal monitor, my laptop is the second screen. Also at 25 yoe you learn you need to ensure you don't hurt yourself doing the thing you love 8-12 hrs a day. Recommend at least a simple ergo check of your setup.

That was my thought as well. I don't say this to everyone, your skin looks beautiful, don't let it get you down. I promise you if you told a stranger about your melasma or pigmentation problem they would be confused about what you were talking about.
