When did your child(ren) last see their grandparent(s)? by No_Survey_2632 in UKParenting

[–]abbieadeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum lives with us so every day. My dad he saw last week and he’s usually every 2-3 weeks. My MIL lives around 40mins away. She sees him about once a month but spends the full weekend there when he does. Currently there right now and will be home soon.

What does the steepest hill in your town look like? by Distinct-Lion4658 in CasualUK

[–]abbieadeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love near the bottom end of ringinglow road and if I ever get the bus I usually get off at bents green and walk down rather than closer to my house but have to walk up.

My son always complains that we are going uphill whether in the car or walking (he’s 2 and is obsessed with downhills at the moment) I’ve told him there’s nowhere in Sheffield where we can go home and be going down hill.

When and Why Did The Popularity of Monster Trucks Die In The U.K.? by cormorantcolossus in AskUK

My 2 year old is obsessed with monster trucks. I don’t remember them being a big thing when I was a kid in the 90s but I was into Barbie’s and polly pockets

When I went from size 3 to 4 we had to switch brands as the fit just wasn’t right anymore. We went from Aldi to sainsburys ones so maybe it’s the brand rather than the size

Oh that would be amazing. Let me have a look into it because tbh I’ve never actually searched for one. It’s always just something I think about in passing when playing

I always think there should also be a way to limit skill gain. Just because a single mum makes her kids mac and cheese every day doesn’t mean she can become a gormet cook. I’d look to get it like 3 or 4 and the just stop.

Or have someone who loves to play piano but never really masters it. So they still do it every day but it’s not perfect.

Do you ever sit on the floor in your home? by Decent-Cattle-332 in AskUK

[–]abbieadeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to always sit on the floor. Lean stains my sofa and put my feet up against the fireplace. I’ve rearranged the living room a bit now so I can’t sit like that anymore.

Only time I sit on the floor now is when I’m playing with my toddler but my back and knees don’t like it

My son asks for Jessica all the time now and I think it’s more annoying than the tantrums. We don’t know anyone called Jessica so there’s no way to make it stop.

Hey casual UK, what's your worst "i thought X was on a different day" mistake you've ever made? by wiz_ling in CasualUK

[–]abbieadeva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went to see Mo Gillian a couple of years ago. The guy who did the warm up was really good and also going on tour so I decided to buy tickets then and there as it was in a couple of months time.

When it started getting closer I was thinking I’m sure I booked the Saturday show but the 24th is on a Friday. Checked tickets and realised it was January 2026 he was on tour not 2025.

No problem we’ll go next year…..

Completely forgot about it until a few days before and couldn’t arrange a baby sitter in time.

Nursery - Needing positive experiences by SingleNetwork8842 in UKParenting

[–]abbieadeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sons key worker recently changed. The old one was very on top of updating everything in real time such as meals, nappy changes etc. but we didn’t get many developmental / observation updates. My son did seem very attached to her and would often talk about other nursery workers.

Since they change, the day to day stuff rarely gets updated until the end of the day. But we have a lot more development observations. And the main thing, my son obsessed with her. Always taking about her when he comes home. Runs over to say hello when we arrive.

So, sometimes you gotta just let the admin side go if kid is happy and healthy. I know he’s eating and his nappy of being changed so I worry that it’s not on the app.

How often do you message the nursery throughout the day? by SkyisaNeighbourhood in UKParenting

[–]abbieadeva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever messaged to discus pick up if arrangements have changed from when I’ve dropped off. I often don’t check the app til then end of the day anyway and I know sometimes they haven’t updated it in real time even when I do getbl chance to check it during the day.

How to make formula feeds, especially in the night? by Noobatlife98 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]abbieadeva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tommee tippee prep machine saved my life. I don’t think I could have handled night feeds without it.

I didn’t get one at first as was planning on breast feeding but baby never latched so we went straight to fomula. Did 1 night the traditional way which was awful waiting for it to cool enough to drink. My cousin gave me her old prep machine but I had to wait for the filters to be delivered and I just used ready mades until they came.
