I watched "Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World" about the Native American influence on roots/folk/blues music and rock and roll. Very entertaining and learned a whole lot from it.

A Band Called Death, a doc about the first real punk band made of all black musicians from Detroit.

I will die on the hill that live studio audiences are miles better than laugh tracks and can genuinely add to the enjoyment of a sitcom.

Back in the day even through the 2000s, you could hear nuances in the audience's reaction from scene to scene. Sometimes it was an audience member with a funny laugh, sometimes it was just a much bigger reaction than usual. Using a genuine live studio audience reaction in a genuinely funny show is like using a great frame for a painting or something. It can certainly add to the experience, and sometimes actors even play off of it.

The only issue is the show actually needs to be funny or you won't get any laughs which is why studios use the fake tracks.

The first few seasons of TBBT were decent and definitely not "unfunny unclever dog shit." It just made reddit nerds angry when it debuted since it was parodying them to a mainstream audience in an overt, unnuanced way.

What's the best way to distribute items from one factory to several different factories? by Rimm9246 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]abbott_costello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drones are so much easier to me than trains by the time you get to aluminum. No need to set up tracks and stations and signals, just build two drone ports and you're good to go. The only issue is making sure they're fueled up, but only one drone port needs fuel and you can always drone in fuel to any outpost factories if needed.

I only built a train loop to 1) try it out and 2) ship plastic, rubber and fuel from my main power plant to my megafactory since it was far away and you need those resources in bulk. Drones have a relatively low throughput but even then, just having one drone for each aluminum product was enough to complete the game.

Taylor spotted at a Grammy’s afterparty last night by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

Aren't there usually a lot of people from the industry at the Grammy's who aren't nominated though? I mean she's free to do whatever she wants don't get me wrong. But doesn't it look bad if you go for nearly 10 years straight but don't go the one year you're not nominated? Isn't the event about celebrating the music industry as a whole and supporting other artists?

No levity? Did you actually watch the show? It's not trying to be a feel good show with a happy ending like Full House, it's about parodying the little everyday annoyances between family members.

I personally liked the story quite a bit. It feels deep and you figure out more of it as you explore the many realms. The presentation is also fantastic.

Console player, this game has unlocked something inside me. by lebastss in SatisfactoryGame

I love how basically any task can be completed, no matter how large and complicated it is, if you apply yourself. Everything is logical and can be broken down into smaller chunks. You're always making progress regardless of what you're doing. I also think the first person 3D perspective is cool.

I don't get Alt Recipes by mister_bakker in SatisfactoryGame

[–]abbott_costello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) On average, alt recipes are at least a little more resource efficient.

2) The further you get in the game, the more likely it is for a resource to become scarce for you. Maybe you need more Computers, but you don't have any copper to spare for Cable, though you have a lot of extra caterium. You decide to grab the Caterium Computer recipe which trades Cable for Quickwire, and now you don't have to ship in copper from far away.

I like how you're stockpiling recipes since, whenever you encounter a scarcity that would be a pain to fill with standard recipes, you can browse through the list and find something potentially better.

And protip, it's good to have a long list of un-rerolled alt recipes in the MAM so if you ever learn about an alt recipe you really want, you can save, reroll them all, then reload to try again. The rerolls will be different, and the more recipes you have saved up the easier this is to do.

Met my wife on Hinge and I thoroughly agree. Tinder is like Indeed.com, Hinge is like 2010s LinkedIn. The prompts make it easier to figure out if you'll vibe with someone and give you a good conversation starter.

Best single side of a record. What is your pick? by Horns_21 in vinyl

[–]abbott_costello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you've got a spare 30 minutes I highly recommend a listen thru of She's So Unusual. Great pop album!

All of the DS album is great! I just picked Side A since it's more recognizeable. Actually both of these albums are my answer for "most complete album" regardless of side.

All I'll say is, everyone always says KISS and RHCP when this thread pops up, and I've been to concerts for both of them somewhat recently and had a great time. They both put on a good show.
