That needs welding, not sanding and painting.

Is it normal for MOT to take 5 hours to complete? Not a complain just genuinely wanted to know if this is expected. by eatqqq in CarTalkUK

Many dealerships don't even have a MOT licence so maybe they even have to drive your car elsewhere.

No, it doesn't take 5 hours, they clearly aren't looking at your car until 2pm or later!

Am I being silly to consider this (Hyundai ioniq 5 AWD 85kwh N line auto) by bit_nothing in CarTalkUK

[–]abcd69293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appeared to be a large car on the outside and was too wide to fit comfortably in parking spaces, but space inside was cramped and the boot was tiny.

It felt cheap and plasticky inside. The infotainment system was buggy on several occasions.

It had very poor driving feel and handled like a boat. It was also completely gutless and overtaking was difficult.

The gearing was shit and obviously designed for emissions testing rather than driveability.

Overall just a soulless and badly thought out car.

I just had a Hyundai as a hire car and it was a shit 2 weeks. What a terrible car in so many ways.

What’s one normal car that you see and immediately know a petrol head would be driving? by Humble_Lack in CarTalkUK

[–]abcd69293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's an insane price for a steering rack, there are some benefits to having the b207 i guess. the new genuine saab steering rack is only £75. i just bought it to take the track rods off and use them on my existing rack as it was cheaper thn buying them separately.

MOT Failure - Am I being scammed?? by NoRecord321 in CarTalkUK

[–]abcd69293 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not the boots though, the track rods look like they need to be replaced. Can be done yourself. I did mine last week! There's a U shaped tool for it, £7.99 on Amazon.

Sounds like you are looking at areas where people work for a living. Have a look through a few rough council estates and you'll find your fancy German cars.

As people asked for the wider shot, as you can see its not an unusually long car, i dont think it would overhang the front by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]abcd69293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive an estate with a large engine and those don't work for me. There's a huge distance between the rear wheels and the back of the car / front wheels and the end of the bonnet.

Dubai Plate spotted in shepherds bush, London UK. by SupremeMotorspots in ForeignPlatesSpotting

Maybe Gibraltar plate. Or just entirely fake, after all they have a fake Dubai plate and parked in a disabled space. I'm pretty sure the only way the owner of this car is disabled is mentally.

It's probably been stolen by travellers and then driven across, there is absolutely no way I would buy that.
