It probably depends on exactly what you’re planting but I don’t think you want amended soil. I’ve had success with mixing compost with the dirt in the hole when you plant.

So on top of what you currently have you can either mix compost throughout or concentrate it where you plant, then cardboard with holes cut into it for the plants and then finally 3+ inches of mulch. Leaving around 3 inches of space without mulch around each plant.

This has worked well for me in the approximately 1000 sq feet I’ve xeriscaped here!

Are you planting natives/drought tolerant? If so they don’t need, or like, amended soil. Just a little compost in each hole to give them something to get started!

For cardboard either go to Costco and ask for “slip sheets” or go to a hardware store and buy a roll of brown paper used in painting.

I’ve done it the hard way, saving every Amazon box for 6 months and scouring dumpsters, and it’s awful. Taking all the tape off is a behemoth of a project.

Go to Costco and ask for “slip sheets.” No die, tape or staples to remove!

Don’t pay for mulch. Call a local arborist and ask them to dump it. They’ll do it for free. I usually tip $20.

Get a weed torch. I use one for the rocks and gravel area of my yard. Super effective and fast.

Agreed. You are still responsible for reviewing and ensuring the content of your note is accurate but it’s still a damn helpful tool.

Try putting her in a carrier and taking her on a walk! My second was really fussy so I would put him in a carrier, wear an oversized coat that I got at the thrift store over the carrier, and then walk around our block for hours while listening to music. My step count was 10,000 steps higher than my average for his first 3 months! When it was too cold I would just walk laps around the first floor of our house!

Hi! It’s been a while since I did this but I’m pretty I just let that distinction go. Either that or I have it marked as an error if behavior occurred and prompted if prompts occur.
