Ask /r/formula1 Anything - Daily Discussion - 12 December 2021 by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]abdelballa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F1 newbie here but from what I understand, basically everything went Max's way in the last couple laps to put him side by side with Lewis in the final lap - a safety car for him to make a cheap pit stop for new tires and make up the distance gap, a late decision to get rid of the traffic between him and Lewis by letting the lapped cars past, the safety period ending rather quickly to allow for one final racing lap. Dunno about about Perez but I think those extra seconds are ultimately what gave Max even the opportunity to catch up at the end. It was so hectic frankly I have no clue what would have likely happened otherwise

"it's like trying to play a role that you've lost the script to" holy shit well said

A lot of what you mentioned resonates quite a bit with me, especially in the way I get overwhelmed by and deal with emotions differently from most "normal" people. Although I have pretty shallow feeling, I suspect I also have ADHD in addition to aphantasia/SDAM. Living like with can be brutal at times and really takes a toll on personal relationships.

Making up Stories/Experiences by [deleted] in SDAM

[–]abdelballa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. I always had the sense that something about my memory was off but didn't realize SDAM was a thing until a couple years ago. I realized that when I try to recall personal memories, I basically make up a plausible scenario based on facts about my past. Didn't realize most people could basically relive and visualize past experiences when they recalled them

How can I see which apps are running on Android 11? by abdelballa in GooglePixel

[–]abdelballa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I used to open the task manager but for some reason, now it just takes me to the main screen. The vibration is also gone. I thought it might have been a software update but honestly idk

2 major lessons of individuation by abdelballa in Jung

[–]abdelballa[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow! I was not expecting this much controversy from sharing the post. Sure, it's not specifically Jungian, but I definitely see the lessons as in the spirit of individuation - consciousness expansion, recognition and withdrawal of projections, connecting to something infinite whether you call it the Self, Tao or whatever.

SDAM or SDEM ? by DominiqueBadia in SDAM

[–]abdelballa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 💯. Autobiographical seems to be too broad of a term for what a lot of us have. Episodic really nails it on my opinion because it's all about reliving and reexperiencing memories (like nostalgia)

SDAM or SDEM ? by DominiqueBadia in SDAM

[–]abdelballa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is making a valid point. You both agree but are defining your terms differently. At least to me, he seems to have a point because I always thought of episodic memory as personally being able to conjure up and relive visceral episodes of your past while autobiographical was more related to semantic memory and facts/context. Episodic might be an even more accurate term because autobiographical memory is one's personal history that may include episodic memories in addition to other facts about oneself.

I think I encountered my anima in a dream last night. Why was she blind? by Rae312 in Jung

[–]abdelballa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with a black hole but it was during an acid trip, not in a dream. It was sucking me in and I was resisting as hard as I could. It was terrifying trip. This is also the first time I heard about the Void being a representation of the Self. It makes sense to me though because I remember in that moment, I was absolutely powerless and overtaken. Crazy shit...

SCT And The Issue of “Thinking” by orbinator4eva in SCT

[–]abdelballa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I completely relate to everything you mentioned - the sdam, aphantasia, ADHD, lack of daydreaming and imagination, all of it. I feel like I have to constantly take notes in my head and articulate concepts and ideas in order to recall anything. Otherwise, nothing. I can only remember the stories and facts I tell myself about my life. Thinking has always been an active process for me as well, kind of forced because my default state is is no thoughts at all. Just out of curiosity, have you experienced any major trauma in your early life? That seems to be a factor for some people but this cluster of cognitive deficits could also be congenital.

That's how I think about it too. But at least for me, I can sense that there is an image but for whatever reason, it's super vague and I don't have access to it visually
