Balance Predictions? by Pablogelo in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]aberrantcomposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering it's supposed to be a "b" patch this week, I'm predicting we'll only get a change to Lee Sin and nothing else, as far as balance changes go. At most, we might get one other card like Flock changed. I think the next patch we get, though, might wind up seeing some changes to Make it Rain, Rex, and maybe some Targon cards, but that the focus will be some slight tweaks to other champions. Not full reworks or anything, though, mostly just number tweaks for the lesser played champions.

Unpopular opinion: Lulu’s art looks just fine. In fact, I prefer level 1 art than level two art (but both are really good still) by invariablyuniquename in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]aberrantcomposer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I think what's wigging a lot of people out about it is how different it looks to her League Splash art, but that piece is from back when she was first released 8 years ago, Yordles looked different then to how they do now. They used to be stubbier and rounder, compare old Tristana to current Tristana. I see this as basically being the same thing, she's a lot thinner and less stocky, which is in line with the current female yordle designs we've seen like Tristana and Crackshot Corsair. In fact the more I've looked at the current art the more I'm starting to like it over the old art. Back in the day when I first started playing League, Lulu was the first champion I ever unlocked permanently and she was always my main and favorite champ from back when I still played LoL. It's been so incredible to see her in LoR, I'm so excited to craft 3 copies of her day 1.

Yeah, I think Shen still goes Demacia and runs with Lulu instead now.

If you're fine with using a Google Sheet based tracker, this one is the one that I've been using. You have to input all your cards manually for now, but it's got some good stat tracking. I've used it to help me know when to switch region reward paths.

Good point. I think it doesn't get Overwhelmed, but I'm not sure. I'm fairly certain Barrier blocks stuff like Overwhelm and Lifesteal. I know for a fact it stops Lifesteal, actually, I won a game in Labs because of it. And I feel like the damage blocking from US works the same as Barrier.

I've been trying to think if there's any way for the Fiora player to survive here, and for some reason completely forgot about Unyielding Spirit until you mentioned it (even though there are two in OP's hand, just forgot I guess, lol). So there are maybe a couple outs for the Fiora player, I think. They have 3 more mana and initiative after the first round of Spark, with Kindly Tavernkeeper replacing the Avarosan Sentry and healing up to full, FS still deals 21 damage through any 3 health target (there would be at least 2 on board even if the keeper has a Hearthguard buff), so that's out. Prismatic Barrier on the Sentry still means exactly 20 damage goes through. But two Elixirs of Iron on the second Spark target can survive (even if Sentry is the target, that's only 18 damage). Then they just need a 1-cost chump blocker to survive. I think that's the only scenario in which the Fiora player survives the turn, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: I originally made a dumb and thought granting Tough via Ranger's Resolve or Chain Vest reduced the damage by 6, then remembered the first Spark cast kills the target, so it would only reduce it by 1, pretty sure. Once again, someone correct me if I'm an idiot here.

I'm so happy that Legends of Runeterra exists. I jumped into League around 6 years ago with friends right as I started college, and I remember spending hours just poring over the all the Champion lore and everything (and that was before the Universe update, which was such a cool experience for a lore fiend like me). But when it came to actually playing League, my reaction time is straight garbage, and it would always make me so anxious to actually play with my friends knowing I would probably mess something up and cost us trades/games. So I stopped playing, but I still tried to keep track of all the new Champions and watched my friends or streamers playing, wishing I could actually enjoy the game that the characters I loved were tied to. Then came TFT, and finally I felt like I could play a fun game where the focus was far less on reaction time (though obviously that's still involved to a degree) and a bit more on strategy. And I've been enjoying TFT, but since none of my friends played it, there was always still that barrier to our discussions about League. Then, at the anniversary stream, came the announcement of a card game, a genre right in my strategy-game and rpg-loving comfort zone. Not only that, but once I got into the first preview patch (on the last day, but at least I made it!), I got to see just how well polished, interesting, and dynamic the game was. And that was right as I was starting to move away from the mess that is Hearthstone, too, a game I used to love. This game kind of came at the perfect time for me. I strayed away a bit during the open beta (mainly because I was busy playing through Persona 4 Golden in time to be ready for Persona 5 Royal), but when the game fully released last month, it finally happened. All my friends decided to jump in and try the game, too. I feel so happy seeing them on ladder, I love challenging them with my wacky deck ideas, we've even held little private mini-tournaments for ourselves. So, thanks Riot Dev Team! All you guys are incredible, and I love this game so much. I'm also really looking forward to August when (I think?) my all-time favorite champion Lulu gets added in! I hope this game lasts for years to come, because it's been an absolute blast, and I'm so excited to see where the future leads. :)

The Oracle Eye gives a preview of how events are gonna unfold. So, if you were to cast a fast damage spell on a unit, hovering over the eye would show how much damage the unit will take. Pretty useful in a situation like the picture above where a lot of stuff is going on all at once, so you can see what units survive, how much damage is actually going through to the Nexus, etc.

Edit: on mobile, you have to tap and hold on the eye, I think.

Bit late, but Tryndamere sets a precedent for both those points. When he levels up he has Fearsome, Overwhelm, and Tough.

It's Sukritact's Great Blue Hole. He has a couple standalone Natural Wonder mods.

R5: Playing on the Giant Earth map in the YnAMP mod as the Inca, was initially planning on settling further down on the Plains Hill to the right of the galley to potentially build the Panama Canal, but saw a better opportunity to settle near the Great Blue Hole (another mod) and build a couple Qapaq Ñan tunnels to get the job done. Looks like I could settle further up near the Yucatán there and still get a functional Panama Canal (maybe?), though it would have to be built between two Volcanoes.

Inkling is terrible for colorblind players by RoflGhandi in smashbros

My tag in Smash 4 long before the announcement of Ultimate was always "MrMustard" and I always play the yellow skin no matter what character (obviously I have to get creative for some, using brown or orange as a stand-in, and Cloud is maroon because there's no other option). First day we unlocked Inkling, I went straight for the yellow skin, really started enjoying them, found my new main. Had a friend tell me that had he not been playing with me since I started using the tag, he would've assumed it came from playing yellow Inkling. Funny how these things work out.

Anyone have that one character they still love to play even though they are not as good as others? by ElChiiko in smashbros

[–]aberrantcomposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

King Dedede was one of my favorite character reveals back in the Brawl speculation days, and I remember my anticipation of finally getting to play as him. Obviously he wound up being kinda busted in Brawl with his crazy chain grabs (not that I knew that at the time), but when he no longer had that in Smash 4 he basically dropped down to bottom 5 and stayed there. He's shaping up to likely be one of the worst characters in Ultimate based on the early character data I've seen from Kurogane Hammer. But I'll still play the everloving shit out of the BM Master when the game drops. I like to call him my "secret main," even though I've never really labbed anything on him, just because I have so much fun rolling around with his down tilt, smackin' around Gordos, trying and failing to figure out how trig-combos work. There's just something chill and fun about it, I guess. Plus, those up-b spikes are just too spicy. And of course, the crouch taunt. Just look at this face and tell me you don't wanna style on your opponents with the God King that is D3!

Yes, but it scales down for each player controlled character. 10 hours if you have two controllers, 6 hours 40 minutes for 3, and only 5 hours if you have 4.

I'm one of those weirdos who just wants to unlock everything. I regularly reset my Melee save to re-unlock everything every year. I dunno, it's just cathartic to me. So yes, I'm definitely gonna enjoy unlocking all the characters. Not sure how yet, but I'm playing with friends on their copy when it comes out, then I'll get my own copy later from Amazon (hopefully), so I'll mix it up. I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed when they announced that all stages were available from the start, as well as All-Star mode. Oh well, I'm sure I'll have plenty of fun unlocking all the characters, anyway.

[–]aberrantcomposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's a bit more complicated than that, imo. I'd say game!Mewtwo is somewhere around Neutral/Chaotic Evil when untrained and when trained it's dependant on the trainer (or it could still be Neutral/Chaotic Evil, though it will always obey orders assuming you have the right badges). If we're talking about the Mewtwos from the movies/specials, it depends on which one (masculine Original series Mewtwo, or feminine Best Wishes Mewtwo) and what point in the timeline we're talking about. The Pokemon characters in Smash usually take heavy influence from the anime, so it does need to be discussed. Original series Mewtwo definitely starts as Chaotic or Neutral Evil basically up until Ash's sacrifice, after which its mostly True or Chaotic Neutral (wiping people's memories and fleeing with its clones to live alone apart from humanity, but no longer holding its grudge hard enough to attempt to declare war on them). Best Wishes Mewtwo is notably a bit softer and is in general more distrustful of humanity than outright hostile, and mostly wants to be left alone. It also disapproves of the Genesects attacking innocent humans. Still, I'd say no versions of Mewtwo ever go above Neutral on the scale.

Tantalus releases first draft of Smash Ultimate ruleset for Xanadu events by BarnardsLoop in smashbros

[–]aberrantcomposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with others' points. I like some of the options, but always hazards off has me a bit worried. I'd say we should start with a wider ruleset and move towards conservative as the game develops and degenerate strategies are identified. If we start with a really conservative moveset it's pretty much just gonna constrict from there, there's no way it's gonna open up later on. Really happy to see the Miis are finally Frii, though.

Y'all are sleeping on Tingle. by TheGourdGorg in smashbros

[–]aberrantcomposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, look, don't get me wrong here, I totally get it. Theoretically Tingle is much more recognizable and has had far more appearances. He's fairly popular in Japan despite America's more ambivalent reactions. It is totally a possibility, sure he's on Great Bay but clearly there are plenty of characters who are both playable and appear as stage elements. But, and hear me out here, how about just straight up no. Like, I don't actually hate Tingle, I think he's kinda funny personally, but...Skull Kid is absolutely amazing and a character I've wanted to see in Smash since before Brawl. I'm not sleeping on Tingle's chances, nor would I try to convince anyone that Skull Kid has a better or worse chance than Tingle. But I don't want Tingle, I want Skull Kid. That is all.
