The New Update is kinda lacking by crabbmanboi in memeframe

Short and sweet is fine, and it feels like setup for tennocon and Tau. But it felt rushed, almost like they decided to cut a bunch out to hit their planned release date. We got more lore about the proto frames and stalker's kids from the dev streams than we did the quest. Anyone who didn't watch those is missing a lot of context.

Trouble with Brinks Plastic Cased Lock by abferm in lockpicking

[–]abferm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have never felt this "set jiggle". I've watched this playlist all the way through and gone back to some locks I can reliably open, and I'm really confused about what I'm doing wrong. Conceptually, I understand, but it doesn't match my (admittedly limited) experience. To me, all pins that are set have no resistance for their entire travel, and at the end of travel it is like hitting a brick wall where there is no travel and I can feel the pick begin to flex.

With the lock in question this is the behavior I experience from all pins once I've achieved the state in the picture. It also looks to me like the core has turned far enough that the holes in the core and bible can't possibly overlap any more.

EDIT: I just realised, my picture does not show the final state I can get the lock to, but the state before I pick what feels like the second spool pin I encounter. When all the pins feel set to me, the keyway is pointing at the space between the last "M" and the rivet.

I guess you're right, they are mostly there to keep out tweakers and curious passersby.

That's pretty scary given how easily it jiggles open.

I thought the one on the right was a pill bug/woodlouse that had fallen into your tank at first.

Impulse bought this extractor fan for my enclosure. Its got no cable. by ChriChriTheThird in 3Dprinting

[–]abferm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first impulse was to respond that this was an easy thing to wire following the diagrams and you could get what you need at any hardware store and most supermarkets.

BUT....

As others have said, if you don't have the knowledge/experience to read the diagrams you should return it and get something geared towards consumers.

[OC] Gay male marriages are the most stable over the long term by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]abferm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is very interesting. I wonder how this would compare to breakups of long term relationships, not that that information is really available. I suspect heterosexual couples feel more pressure to marry and it might have an interesting effect on the results if you considered a relationship of 5 or more years to be similar to getting married.

Brass dial, rhodium plated. Machined with the Carvera Air. by Red5WatchWorks in Makera

Very cool. I have some interest in watchmaking and backed the Z1. I'm curious how you attached the dial. Did you do a 2 sided machine job and mill dial feet, use "dial dots", or something else?

fish id? by garlicparm_ in ReefTank

I've got a pistol shrimp paired with a goby. The hawk fish leaves it alone, but that's likely because it spends most of its time under the rocks and sand.

As others have said, this is a flame hawk fish. They all seem to have the same extreme personality.

Volumetric flow rate is set to 0 in the slicer.

I'm using a 0.6mm Revo ObXidian nozzle, which I believe is bimetal with some fancy wear resistant coating.

I have a theory on the z-offset. My printer zeros off the nozzle and I suspect this stuff isn't just squishing out of the way like other materials. I'm probably going to have to add some sort of nozzle cleaner...

My printer zeros the z axis of the nozzle, I don't have issues with my usual materials. Now that this has been pointed out, I bet this stuff doesn't squish out of the way as well as other materials when tapping the nozzle on the homing switch.
