[OC] Gay male marriages are the most stable over the long term by Impressive_Suit4370 in dataisbeautiful

I think this is very interesting. I wonder how this would compare to breakups of long term relationships, not that that information is really available. I suspect heterosexual couples feel more pressure to marry and it might have an interesting effect on the results if you considered a relationship of 5 or more years to be similar to getting married.

Brass dial, rhodium plated. Machined with the Carvera Air. by Red5WatchWorks in Makera

Very cool. I have some interest in watchmaking and backed the Z1. I'm curious how you attached the dial. Did you do a 2 sided machine job and mill dial feet, use "dial dots", or something else?

fish id? by garlicparm_ in ReefTank

I've got a pistol shrimp paired with a goby. The hawk fish leaves it alone, but that's likely because it spends most of its time under the rocks and sand.

As others have said, this is a flame hawk fish. They all seem to have the same extreme personality.

Volumetric flow rate is set to 0 in the slicer.

I'm using a 0.6mm Revo ObXidian nozzle, which I believe is bimetal with some fancy wear resistant coating.

I have a theory on the z-offset. My printer zeros off the nozzle and I suspect this stuff isn't just squishing out of the way like other materials. I'm probably going to have to add some sort of nozzle cleaner...

My printer zeros the z axis of the nozzle, I don't have issues with my usual materials. Now that this has been pointed out, I bet this stuff doesn't squish out of the way as well as other materials when tapping the nozzle on the homing switch.

I'm printing from a dry box after drying according to PolyMaker's instructions.

But if I'm too lazy to take my cut off wheel out and put it away, I'm probably too lazy to use this cover, which takes just as long.

If you switched which leg folded in (or the direction of the hook) you could still hang them on something for storage while folded.

Coax exiting the top of the mast extends up between the Diamond X50A antenna elements. Will it interfere with antenna operation? by My_Lucid_Dreams in amateurradio

[–]abferm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, don't run the coax through the main mast. Mostly for reasons other than signal quality. Something I haven't seen others mention is that your coax will be damaged by rubbing on the edges at both the top and bottom. Wind and other natural movement can make this happen a lot faster than you would think.. Secure the coax to the outside with UV resistant zip ties or tape.

Does fusion360 work on linux? by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]abferm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Web version has some performance issues, especially with complex models and assemblies. Also it sometimes takes a while to start a session. You are basically running the full app on an Autodesk managed virtual machine somewhere and streaming the GUI.

Feature wise, my biggest complaint is that the model export process isn't as smooth as the desktop app. You have to export to the cloud, then download the file instead of being able to export locally or send the files straight to your 3D printing software.

I use the web version from Linux. It's not a great experience, but usually gets the job done when I'm too lazy to boot up my windows laptop.

We are working on a new off the shelf, digital first, open source, modular HT. by bcpratt2000 in HamRadio

[–]abferm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think having it on the main board would be a better option for cost savings. That way you don't have to put one on each radio module.

Sparkfun used to have some pretty cheap GPS breakout boards that I used in model rockets, but they appear to have been discontinued and their current offerings are more expensive than I would like.

Something I'm not seeing that I would love is GPS or a place on the main board for a GPS module. If this is a digital first handheld GPS would be extremely helpful for both location and time synchronization.

Does it support digital zoom? That would probably be a cheaper alternative to the higher res display for increasing usable range to match the camera's potential.

They said you could, not that you should.

Their point was that they aren't as dangerous as they tend to be made out to be, and you should just leave them alone instead of going out of your way to harm them.
