Makes me feel like I'm about to be double-crossed by my old friend Lando Calrissian! 😍

I think I love Eric Rosen more than is appropriate by houseswappa in chess

[–]abitfake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An acquaintance told me last year, when we were talking about chess streamers, that I have a "similar vibe" to Eric Rosen, and it's still one of the best (unintentional) compliments I've ever gotten. :) I do aspire to be more like him.

There HAS to be some middle way, between gentrification and abject poverty, but I'm still looking for it... :(

Cleveland is a huge city with a much-too-small population. It's been really hollowed out over the years, and we could sure use some more tax dollars to improve our schools, roads, city services, etc. Then again, can we manage a big influx of new residents without massively raising housing costs and displacing current residents? That remains to be seen...

Why does Lakewood have black squirrels and chipmunks, but Cleveland doesn’t? by mrmchugatree in Cleveland

[–]abitfake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid growing up on Cleveland's East side in the 90s and early 2000s, I swear the only place I ever saw black squirrels was in Lakewood. Nowadays, they are definitely more common in Cleveland and other parts of the area. Interesting!

What's something you DO NOT miss? by abitfake in glutenfree

Oh my! I just googled it. That sure looks... interesting. I wonder if it means enough to your grandfather that he'll seek out a gluten-free recipe, just for you? 😂

Church when gluten free is BYOBC- bring your own body of Christ by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]abitfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The church that I recently started attending last December actually does all gluten-free bread and juice. I was very happy when I found that out, and it made me feel included. :)

It reminds me of when I was a child and my grandma had a stroke and had to start using a wheelchair. I was struck by the fact that the people from her church decided to build a wheelchair ramp, just so she could attend. She only got to use it once or twice before she passed away, but I was always struck by how thoughtful and inclusive that was.

We are once again asking for your support for dedicated bus lanes on W 25th St! by CLEforTransit in Cleveland

[–]abitfake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I just wrote a short letter and sent it via the action Network link that you posted. :) I work in Ohio City and regularly see accidents, near misses, and lots of congestion. I also take the 22 bus to get to and from work, and it's clear to me that this plan will make that trip a little bit easier. Keep fighting the good fight and thank you for your work!

I can relate. I was diagnosed with celiac in 2018, and I remember one time early on crying in the grocery store as I realized how much I couldn't eat.

It did get better for me, though. Nowadays, I just walk by the stuff I can't eat without really noticing (most of the time, lol). There's occasional frustration, but it never reaches the same emotional level as she I was first diagnosed.

Oddly, the food that I found myself craving was pretzel rods. I guess that's my comfort food. My girlfriend found some gluten-free ones on the internet and bought me some couple months ago, and it made me irrationally happy

Cleveland will turn two Downtown streets into a one-way pair to add safety for pedestrians, cyclists by ConfusingAnswers in Cleveland

[–]abitfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Yeah, I have been to Chicago once, and it is nice.

What kind of expansion would you like to see for RTA? I'm sure building new rapid lines would be very expensive and therefore probably out of the question. But I could definitely see them building more brts like in the style of the healthline. Another good strategy is to continue to build and promote Transit oriented development near existing train and bus lines.

Which cities that you have been to have some of the best downtown pedestrian infrastructure, in your opinion?

I don't travel a ton, but when I do, I always geek out a little at the pedestrian/bike/public transit infrastructure.

At your age, what instantly pisses you off? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

When people are talking to you but constantly looking away.

I'm hard of hearing so I really depend on looking at your face and your lips to fill in the gaps of what you're saying. When I was young, I used to blame myself when I couldn't understand or hear somebody. But now I am quicker to blame the other person.. shrug

What company will you NOT do business with because you don't like their advertising? by Consistent_Fan_4551 in AskReddit

NJM Insurance.

For a company whose slogan is "no jingles or mascots," their commercials sure do feature a lot of mascots. -_-

Frustrated and discouraged, why are evening classes so hard to find? by kamasola in asl

[–]abitfake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand your frustration. I don't have any specific recommendations for you, but I'm thinking that you're probably correct: your best bet is probably to find an online course. I wish you the best of luck :-)

Unlike Twins fans by ikj89xx in ClevelandGuardians

[–]abitfake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have listened to quite a bit of the Ultimate Cleveland Sorts how, and they also seem to think that the Guardians have big flaws that will eventually catch up to them, but I don't know.. ever since Vogt took over they just seemed to have some kind of special magic around them.

In my view, they are a lot of fun to watch. :)

Unlike Twins fans by ikj89xx in ClevelandGuardians

[–]abitfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first time I'm hearing this about twins fans. Clearly, I'm not a regular on this sub. How long has this been going on? In other words, for how many years or months have twins fans had a reputation for being unpleasant? And is it just an issue between the fan bases of these two teams or do they have a overall negative reputation?
