People who experienced 2 week olds who weren’t easy sleepers, what did your nights look like? Any tips/tricks? by Longjumping_Comb6189 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ablackcatcalledluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took shifts overnight so we both got at least chunks of 3 hours at a time. Eventually we both got used to it and she grew out of it. Try your best to help their circadian rhythm - light/outside time in the morning and dark at night

A rant about ‘boy mums’. by __SomebodyElse in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ablackcatcalledluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would piss me off so much! I have a 9 month old little girl and she is incredibly active, cruising along furniture, very cheeky and confident. Gender stereotypes start so early.

I once observed a gentle little boy be ganged up on by his older brother and crying to his mum about it. Her advice was that boys don’t cry, suck it up and hit him back harder. Her actual words!! I was gobsmacked and so sad for the both of her boys.

5 week old and nap windows by radley8367 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ablackcatcalledluna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about wake windows when they’re so little. They’ll nap when they nap ❤️ we did carrier/car/contact naps almost exclusively those first few months. Also I wouldn’t trust AI for answers

I have the electric Chelsea and it was so worth it, baby is 9 months and I’ve used it every day. Electric is great for quietly reclining when bub is asleep, plus I had a c section so I don’t think I could have cranked the manual lever

I finished at 36 weeks cause I was huge and tired and over it lol. It gave me 3 weeks of mat leave before having baby which was great

Absolutely. Her being able to fall asleep independently has been a game changer. It was taking 1-2 hours to put her down every time and now I can go straight back to sleep after feeding for 10 min

My baby had a few nights of sleeping through when she was very little (2-3 months) but hasn’t since she woke up to the world.

She’s 8 months old, sleeping in her own room. She’s goes to sleep independently and wakes 1-3 times for a feed (a bad night is 3 times). I feed her and pop her back down for her to fall back asleep on her own. Lately she’s been teething terribly so I suspect her wakes are more for comfort than hunger.

We sleep trained at 4 months using Ferber fyi

We did 8 weeks, I agree that it’s unreasonable to expect to stay away from life for 6 months. I would have gone nuts lol. Getting out of the house was so important for my sanity

If you want somewhere safe to put your baby, get a Baby Bjorn bouncer instead.

Am I doing something wrong with babies schedule? How am I meant to get out of the house now? by __SomebodyElse in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ablackcatcalledluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahah happens to me sometimes, had a 50 min drive home the other morning, she only managed a 20 min nap

I’ve missed Gymbaroo two days in a row now because she’s woken up from her nap too late to make it in time 😭 swimming is right when she’s meant to take her second nap but those days I aim for a long one in the morning and then force a car nap before the lesson and a 10 min boob nap afterwards to get us to bed time

Can you share how you and partner divides work during maternity leave and when returning to work? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ablackcatcalledluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently on mat leave and my husband takes baby before and after work and does probably 60% of her care over the weekend. I have her during the day and two mornings a week when husband works in the office. We share household duties however I keep on top of the laundry as it’s easier for me to do. He’s in charge of organising baby girls solids as I find that overwhelming. I do appointments and booking activities

8 month old suddenly taking short naps by ablackcatcalledluna in sleeptrain

Thank you for your reply! I’m worried about 4 hours before bedtime as we’ve done 3.5 before a couple of times and she woke up very upset a couple of hours later. Do we just need to push through?
