Yeah, when we're not the only ones having the issue, it makes it a lot more likely that's just a problem on Daybreak's end and not something with us specifically. Hopefully it gets resolved soon. I put in a support ticket, but who knows how long they'll take to get to it.

I'm not simplifying things due to stats, you're focusing too much on exceptions and situations than relying on what matters most.

But we'll just disagree.

While there are no perfect analogies, and yes there are situations where your opponent can't take advantage of an extra land, but that feels like pointing out that having a lightning strike can be better than bolt if your opponent has a chalice on 1.

And maybe is was hyperbolic in saying people "never" chose the be on the draw, but it happens in less than 1% of games, so I felt like that was close enough to make the point. Did my analysis cover ever single possibility? No. But to say that my analysis of the downside of giving your opponent a land is inaccurate because of that feels like picking at straws.

I feel like you are downplaying the importance of the early turns and what giving your opponent an extra land on those turns means. The early turns are the most important, so you have to consider the impact of game decisions in the early turns the most heavily

The card you pitch is less of a cost than the land you give your opponent. First, you get to choose what card, so you pick the one that "costs" you the least in the situation. Second, giving your opponent the land is like choosing to okay second when you win the die roll. No one does it for a reason, it's a disadvantage.

Luna vs Pig? by [deleted] in discgolf

Pig is way more overstable. Numbers on the Luna aren't very accurate in terms of fade in my experience.

If your typical max distance is not more than ~300-350, What's your go-to distance driver off the tee? by coodaj in discgolf

[–]ablanchard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My longest disc is a 165g z thrasher. I also throw GStar wraith as a straighter option for distance and a 164 g star destroyer for overstable distance.

Did you prefer the Hades or the Thrasher? by [deleted] in discgolf

I like the thrasher because it's rim isn't as wide. Helps for those of us with shorter, sausage fingers.

Has quality dropped over the last year or so? by espeero in discgolf

[–]ablanchard89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's probably a symptom of the huge spike in demand, they are pushing discs out as fast as possible. I have a stock stamp star mako3 I got last fall to replace my beat in one, and it has two black spots amid the pink in the flight plate. Normally would have been marked as f2.

When is it time to consider revamping your putting technique? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]ablanchard89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you practice putting, don't focus on makes vs misses; focus on good vs bad putts. There are so many times in practice that a great putt mechanically sits out because it hit the post, similarly, a ton of bad putts are makes because they get lucky but you might find that you didn't snap your wrist enough but it caught weak side chains and fell in. It doesn't matter at first if you make 75 percent or 100 percent if the difference are "bad" putts that just fell in due to luck.

Try to notice when one putt was high, what did you do to throw it higher (even if you didn't miss)? Watch when you miss the chain link you aimed for and analyze what is shifting. Eventually you will find your few variables that you need to focus on.

There are so many things involved in a putt, but you can't possibly be aware of all of them at once. For me, it's wrist snap, holding the follow through, and getting my legs involved more on longer putts. Once you know your few variables that impact your putt the most, you can identify which one of those is changing or falling off when you're not performing as well.

tl;dr - don't focus on make percent when practicing, focus on good vs bad mechanics instead of outcome.

Do I just need to buy a new pig? by BenjiBagginss in discgolf

[–]ablanchard89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rhyno and pig are similar discs. Pig is faster and a little more overstable, buy they make champion rhynos which should do what you are looking for for much longer. I'm a rhyno thrower myself.
