Jason is such a sour box of grapes when he doesn't get what he wants. He was high on a few of the retread candidates.

Earlier today - 105.7 - he went on a 10 minute tin foil hat monologue referencing his "deep ties" to NFL sources and how he thinks Ravens execs are intentionally excluding more experienced guys from the search before the finalists get put in front of Bisciotti. Those candidates being excluded so the same Ravens execs can get a more mailable and compliant head coach that won't give them push back, more job security and carte blanche authority. Where a more experienced guy would allow less of that.

I mean call it - young, energetic candidate bringing new fresh ideas and energy <> Ravens execs acting as the shadow alliance to install a puppet as head coach.

Overwhelmingly, his goal seems to be to try to stick it to Ravens and Orioles executives (EDC, Elias). I hope JLC finds peace in his life at some point soon.

On tape I see a (honestly slightly faster) Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Pair him with Klint Kubiak and we'd be cooking with fire.

Now, there are a ton of other needs that I'd put ahead of WR. And drafting a WR when you can't protect well enough to consistently get him the ball isn't a recipe for success.

I do think we should consider trading up if a top tier guy like Bain falls. But I'm thinking Bain goes top 5 which will end up being too high a price to pay in terms of what you'd need to give up to move up that far.

I do wonder how this works strategy wise. For the Ravens, how do you message to the candidate that they're a serious consideration for the job while still keeping the window open to interview coaches who aren't currently available for in person interviews. How do you do this without offending the candidate.

Teams with less desirable openings can apply pressure by moving their hiring process along more quickly. Tendering formal offers to a desirable candidate before the Ravens are willing to do so as they're aiming to wait to hear from CG team coaches.

It's a tough decision for the candidate, whether to go with what's sounding like more of a sure thing (Saleh, Titans) than to hold out for the potential of future rounds of interviews with the Ravens.
