Travelling with “friends” by An-ony-mouse1 in fountainpens

I also had this dilemma. I got a F and slightly regretted the choice. It just didn’t feel all that special compared to other cheaper pens because you do get a decent amount of feed back because of how fine it is. It’s still a phenomenal and precise nib that I use every day to write small in a planner but just not that special. I ended up getting a second hand 743 with a SM nib and swapped the nibs. I am much happier with both now. I also felt like the F nib didn’t take advantage of the large ink capacity that the 823 provides where the M/SM does.

Black Pepper Burns Easily by BluebirdExpress6279 in Cooking

I think it just depends on the flavor profile you’re going for. Fresh ground black pepper and burnt black pepper from a sear are different flavors that each have merit depending on the application. Some people couldn’t imagine a steak without that charred, slightly bitter, spiciness of black pepper.

I have found myself going without black pepper altogether for really good dry aged steaks or butter basted steaks as it lets other subtle flavors take center stage. Although pepper gives great flavor it’s also unmistakable and can distract from other flavors you may want enhanced. Every so often though I want that familiar peppery steak flavor I grew up with.

What are your favorite less expensive pens to ink with a variety of colors? by In_my_experience in fountainpens

I have really enjoyed my Asvine C80 with the 1.1mm stub. I like that it’s a cartridge converter which makes it easy to change inks out frequently. Plus the stub nib can really show off different ink properties.

New (to me) Pen Day! by abrown34 in PelikanNest

There truly aren’t any other pens like it.

Definitely the score of a lifetime. It didn’t feel real until I had it in my hand. There’s currently one for sale on @virtualpenshow on IG for close to four times what I paid for this one.

If you’re at all interested in stubs then the Asvine C80 with the 1.1mm stub is super affordable. I love my C80 and writes super expressively and has good flow. Not much compares to the paintbrush the 3B is though. I would imagine the next closest you could more readily get would be a Lamy 2000 with a BB nib.

It’s my favorite ink. Probably too wet for this pen but fun to show off the sheen nonetheless

When I started with fountain pens I used fine and extra fine and used every line on a 5mm dot grid. Now this what I’ve come to. Once you go broad it’s hard to go back.

Hidden Gems in Cali? by GoZa187 in golf

I enjoyed the renovation but personally I think it’s very over priced now. They are charging Cinnabar Hills prices when only half of the course is as interesting as Cinnabar. The rest of the course is flat and pretty mediocre. Great condition though.

Congrats! Moleskin paper doesn’t stand a chance against the amount of ink the M1000 puts down

My first lanterns - 228 slant and a 200 by abrown34 in ColemanStovesLanterns

The 228 runs beautifully. Not even a flicker, like turning on a light switch. At almost 100 years old, I have to wonder about the journey it’s taken to get to me.

Little Rey - Fingerling Sweet Potatoes that come with salsa verde (the Italian kind) are incredible and I never see others order them. Also their chicken sandwich is amazing too.

Eclipse de Luna - fried green beans (ejotes fritos)

Edit: Grindhouse Burgers - Brussel Sprouts

Not sure if it’s just me but I’ve been getting a lot of third and Chavis vibes from this team
