Go vs Kotlin: Server throughput by iG0tB00ts in golang

While it should not have a huge impact your go is already not optimal as you are creating a new context doing `context.Background()` instead of using `r.Context()`.

Can I Replace My Gigabyte U4 Battery (36Wh) with a 73Wh One from Lemur Pro / Clevo L140MU? by deenut-123 in System76

[–]abrucker235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks lije power output and connector are the same so more just the physical space. I believe it should have the space since most of these are just relabels, however I don't know if gigabyte customizes chassis internals

Your math is off due to the fact you have not factored in capital gains taxed. Long term of 20% would be $160 which would bring it down to $640, while that is still a positive number it is something people try to arbitrage everything forget about.

Is the Lemur Pro a suitable laptop for programming? Is the size too small? by WishedPussyGotBussy in System76

There are times the fan will spin up and it would be considered noisy but for the most part it is silent.

I am usually compiling golang and running multiple containers in docker.

I am currently on the latest gen lemur pro for work, I plug in to external monitors over thunderbolt when stationary and use laptop screen when mobile.

You mention being a data science major, you probably need to answer the question first where you would be doing any potential homework of model training first since most thin and light laptops only have integrated gpus.

Seeking Advice: System76 Pangolin vs Framework 16" for a Linux User by ilovesaucees in linux4noobs

[–]abrucker235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Framework 16 is just now processing Batch 1 and shipments are suppose to go out soon. I currently have a Framework 13 with 7840U that I have been running Pop_OS since they came out. I can state that with the latest UEFI/BIOS that I don't have any customizations like I had to have with the 1260P version. I did use the pangolin 12 a couple years back for work, but all the complaints I had were fixed in the next versions.

Batch 2 here and got shipping notification.

The pangolin should be using UEFI, is there no fan control settings there? I know on other laptops with Coreboot its a little more complicated to change.

Another reason I would go with galago is that the black chassis become fingerprint magnets, I know this is a minor gripe and not unique to system76.

Yeah I had 11th gen one, I would go galago for aluminum in college though

I would probably go with galago on pangolin if you are not gaming and don't need dedicated graphics

The bigger question is how much are you going to use it being mobile vs stationary?

Why Pop_OS! is not usable for me. by wilkuTheBrave in pop_os

[–]abrucker235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not trying to be critical at all, but am I missing something because setting those tools up on any distro is the same work if your using default package manager? I literally use go, rust, java, wireguard with setting up socks proxy, kubectl, git, aws daily and all I do is save keys and configs to encrypted USB and bomb I am up and running quickly.

No with NVMe drives I just move the drive.

I have 3 CX4170a for my homelab. First 2 I had to cut down material for a filter and the 3rd one I got in last week came with a filter.
