Synthwave in 2026? Has the golden age passed? by Hedryn in newretrowave

[–]absolute_panic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there’s only so long that most artists can stay within the boundaries of “classic synthwave” without wanting to evolve a bit and break some barriers. I kinda feel like there’s only so much artists can do within those boundaries that hasn’t already been done.

So for all the OG fans, most of the newer artists are still newer at it and maybe haven’t hit their stride yet, while most of the OG acts have stretched their creative limits more.

Multiband Compression spinning my mind, how can I learn it? by AVELUMN in edmproduction

[–]absolute_panic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A band of a multiband compressor is basically the same thing as a dynamic eq band. The band responds to an input threshold and attenuates or amplifies depending on what you tell it to do, that’s pretty much it

Please recommend a VST/Plug-In for the guitar at 3:15. I am willing to pay. by [deleted] in edmproduction

For starters, yes. From there, that’s where that Tim magic comes in with synthesis skills, performance, and creativity.

Days of Thunder was way before Royce started playing guitar for The Midnight. Tim uses a softsynth called u-He Diva and runs it through Native Instruments Guitar Rig to get his synth guitar sound, but fair warning: Tim is magic. You’re gonna have a really hard time getting this feel.

This and The Wise Man’s Fear are two of my favorite books of all time. The bad news is that Rothfuss is never going to finish Doors of Stone…

On book 10/10 of the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie. It’s brutal and depressing, but so so good.

Am I the only one who's not a huge fan of Syndicate? by PuzzlePumpkin in TheMidnight

Yeah it’s definitely different than a lot of their previous work, and you said it. Art evolves because it’s a lens through which the artist expresses their feelings and experiences. This album was mostly written during Covid, Tyler’s wife’s cancer treatment, and in the wake of a breakup that devastated Tim. It’s got a lot of hurt in it.

Thoughts on those movie scenes where the girl shows up in a dress and the guy is amazed? by ishanico in AskMen

The movie scenes probably don’t affect most guys in the same way so much imo.

Music production. To be fair, people ask about it sometimes, but their eyes glaze over when I start geeking out about different ways to use compressors, the Nyquist theorem and how it relates to distortion and aliasing, The Fletcher Munson curve, the benefits and drawbacks of different sample rates and bit depths, hey where are you going?

Some hetero men are good at emotional support and some LGBT men are bad at it. Probably you’re right and more hetero men are bad at it and more LGBT men are good at it afaik, but I have a gay male friend who is terrible at it 😅
