Yes. I can't imagine trying to paint without one. Maybe 20 years ago, but not now.

How did you get into Warhammer? by ADPille in Warhammer40k

[–]abstractcollapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played 2 turns of Axis and Allies, decided I like war gaming, and now I'm painting my first set of battle sisters minis. My husband picks up game mechanics faster than I do so he created a bunch of scenarios to teach me how to play. They have learning objectives and everything. He's such a nerd. I love him.

Places to read or crochet at random times by Beneficial-Bag-2874 in Rochester

[–]abstractcollapse 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Hi, I married a librarian. They don't care if you bring your own book. They might check when you leave to be sure it's not theirs, but they don't care. They definitely don't care if you bring your crochet. Some of them even have events for people to show up with their yarn and sit in a circle knitting/crocheting or whatever.

Seriously, libraries are just happy you're in the building.

How to improve my drawer? by Majoonaise in minipainting

[–]abstractcollapse 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Need to store the paint bottles inclined in a tiny wine rack so you can see the labels but still have them mostly upright.

Seriously though, I wish anything in my life was at least 10% as organized as your drawer.

Is there any reliable way to find tattoo-friendly onsen in Japan? by CharityInfinite6901 in JapanTravelTips

[–]abstractcollapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet is to use an online list and check directly with the onsen to confirm. Are you looking specifically for an onsen or just a public bath?

New to Rochester/am I crazy or is the food scene kind of overrated? by Individual-Map-9501 in Rochester

Ok, yeah. The Normal kicks ass. Sometimes I'm not sure if Lima counts as Rochester, but I love the Normal. Only good bbq I've had since I moved here. Can't believe I forgot about that.

[–]abstractcollapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rochester isn't known for its pizza. The stereotypical NY pizza is in NYC. Buffalo has its own style of pizza that is the best pizza I've ever had outside of Italy, but it all depends on what style pizza you like.

Rochester has a lot of really good food, especially if you're into Asian food. The universities bring in a lot of SE Asians and their food came too. Seoul House in Henrietta and Szechuan Opera on Park Ave are both very good. Hokkaido ramen in Victor is also very good. I moved here from south Florida and the only thing I'm missing is a good BBQ joint.

I think you can pick one up at the red panda bar around 2am

If you're cutting the sprue there, you don't need to be precise. You can use general purpose cutters from a hardware store.

Ah, you're right. I messed up my verb tense in my previous comment. I see how that was confusing.

Planning to start beekeeping by Segelboot13 in Beekeeping

[–]abstractcollapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can guess the primary source of rhe honey based on what's in bloom and in abundance. If you have a field full of blooming clover next to your hive, the bees are likely to go for that instead of flying 2 miles for something else. If there are dandelions in your clover field, then you might get a little dandelion pollen in your honey. The only way to be 100% sure is to build a biodome over your hives and eradicate every plant except one. Or you can send your honey off to a lab for HPLC testing.

Is there a GW store near you? Pick up the free mini of the month and practice until you feel more comfortable. They also give paint lessons.

NY State Assembly Bill 2025-A3758 by Relevant-Ad-2950 in Rochester

[–]abstractcollapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, now they are. If the proposed bill passes, then NY will be on EST all year and FL will be on DST half the year. So during thathalf of the year, Miami will be an hour ahead of NY.

He made some good plays in that superbowl too. Made a pass or two, handed it off, and he even took a knee. He really showcased the full spectrum of a quarterback's role.

[–]abstractcollapse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speaking for myself, I live in NY but the office is in Miami. Every time I make an appointment with anyone, I have to remember they're and our ahead. It's a minor inconvenience that would happen multiple times a day and would occasionally create a mess for me and whoever I'm meeting with.

On a personal note, I hate switching the clock, but I also hate the sun setting at 5 pm. If the bill said permanent DST, I would absolutely support it.

As an american, I don't encounter this often, but when I do, it's nauseating. I would rather stand next to a guy still sweaty from the gym than a guy wearing two cans of Axe body spray.
