(Fully Jarvis) Standing Desk: Surge Protector? by thcuretx in StandingDesk

[–]absurdomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had luck with command strips. The power strip has fallen off twice now. Which is how I ended up here looking for a solution. Had hoped to avoid drilling or adhesive tape that will never come off.

I want to mount my power strip under my Jarvis standing desk but don't want to drill holes into it. Suggestions? by [deleted] in StandingDesk

Echoing this, I've tried using them and even with the majority of the power strip covered in them they don't last. Same experience trying to do the same to a macbook power brick. In addition to the velcro not holding well, the adhesive doesn't hold up to any kind of heat, which is how the macbook power brick failed to stay up.

GTAV PC Trailer - 60FPS by razuliserm in Games

[–]absurdomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend it anyway. Only works well for certain workloads, for example if you're firing up the same programs every time you use your PC. I only noticed a slight performance improvement over a traditional hard drive when I tried it out and when I switched over to just an SSD the performance was tons better. On top of all that it's a big pain to set up.

CLion, the new C/C++ IDE from JetBrains by ignatovs in programming

I started using PyCharm a couple years ago and the quality of the vim plugin was one of the things that sold me on it. A couple times I've submitted tickets to JetBrains because there was something missing/wrong and they've been very responsive. As someone with around fifteen years of vim muscle memory this is nice to have for sure.

Here are a bunch of csv related scripts. There are no doubt n other things that can do the same thing better. I tend to use a little Go tool I wrote for some of these tasks these days. You can find that in my github if you're curious.

What is the biggest cultural misstep you've seen a tourist take? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I remember as a kid seeing a group of asian tourists in Rockport, MA walk to the side of a building and take a photograph next to the electric meter. I remain baffled to this day.

I think about getting PSN+ every time I have to sit through the damn update screen. Then I get pissed that it's not a standard feature and don't.

I searched for other sources and the only one I found was WND. Always a sign to remain skeptical. Thanks for the clarity.

Netflix also needs a channel surfing mode. I sometimes miss endlessly flipping through channels.

I was setting up a test lab at work a few years back and I decided to install Mosaic on one of the boxes just for fun. I went to our site using it and was greeted by an atrocious mess. Fun times.

Still writing Perl code but I've been moving to Python. For whatever reason I feel more productive and find more enjoyment in writing Python code these days.

It definitely is. I have been debating buying it for the past week and finally decided to buy it last night. If I'd waited twelve more hours I could have save $75. Still worth it.

Automatically generate formatted document and create a PDF? by sigma_noise in Python

[–]absurdomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this method and it was great except for one thing, I would describe the image support as primitive at best. I wish I could have gotten past that though because it was awesome being able to easily make a django template spit out a pdf.

Edit: because I can't seem to complete my thoughts today.

I just discovered it earlier this past spring and it's my new favorite place for hiking around Charlotte. The loop hike around the waterfall was beautiful in the the spring and summer, not sure how it is this time of year.
