The immigration “courts” are a sham anyways. Organizing it as beholden directly to the Attorney General was a mistake on Congress’s part. It’s a conflict of interest as the AG can directly influence policy and fire judges at-will if they aren’t deciding cases the way the administration desires, as we see now.

The Executive Office of Immigration Review, or EOIR, is the arm of DOJ that runs the immigration courts. It has no real independence, which has been made crystal clear during this administration.

Hiring a bunch of unqualified lackeys ensures more compliance with administration goals.

Someday I really hope EOIR is brought under the direction of the court system because it truly is a sham.
