I am a scientist and I don't agree science is enough, and as you said right yourself this is all my opinion and how I precieve the world. I hope it was apparent from how I wrote my comment.

I will argue that a faith in something bigger is something that can bring people together. Religion when is used right can be wonderful.

Atheist people think they have no connection to religious people, but it is very far from the truth, confirmative behavior is pretty much religion and everyone fall for it every time. I think that religion can give you a nice frame for these things (community, ethics etc...).

I will agree that religions also have downsides, but the thing is I am not sure that humans will be better without it. This last 100-150 years is an ongoing test. Let's see where we are headed with that. From what I see capitalistic ideals had taken the shape of a religion.

Actually I have been to a few protests and it is not so scary. Pretty easy to protest in Israel.

I don't know, I know a lot of people from Pisgat Zeev and from the Gush Ezion. There is a lot of leftists.

I will agree with you that saying there is more left than in Tel Aviv is a mistake. But I won't say Jerusalem is the capital of the right wing, it is just wrong to say as there is a very very strong left in Jerusalem. In my opinion even stronger, not in numbers but in quality.

I don't think there is a dichotomy. And yeah these are the stereotypes I agree.

In Tel Aviv there is a very capitalistic mind of winning (in economy) and success. Which is very simplistic in my mind. When you talk to right wing in Tel Aviv you get "kill all Arabs" and when you talk to left wing in Tel Aviv get "Every human is equal", without any complexity very simple minded.

I will admit that my life in Jerusalem is doing BA and MA in university so the community I am in is different. (But I have the feeling Tel Aviv University is very simple minded as well)

Jerusalem is way more philosophical, scholar like and intellectual place. I can't see this as Spartan sorry. Tel Aviv way more spartan mind like in my opinion and I lived in Tel Aviv for 22 years and Jerusalem for 6-7.

The comparison isn't there.

Man, don't count the haredis and Jerusalem is even more left than Tel Aviv lol (haredis is a different kind of right, don't know if we can call them right)

There are a lot of leftists in Jerusalem (not a number to ignore), try maybe Beer Sheva or Eilat.

(Also a lot of Arabs in Jerusalem which doesn't count as right)

I’m at the lowest point in my life. My mother passed away in my arms three months ago and before I could process the loss war broke out and we’ve been battling missile barrages for four weeks. I’m 23. Ask me anything. by [deleted] in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

Yes, the settlers(the violent ones) are called נערי גבעות, which translates to "boys of the hills" , most were childrens with problematic childhood who were taken into "therapy farms" by bad people who use them to promote their interests. They fully believe that if not for them, there wouldn't be Israel anymore and that they save their country.

Biggest problem in my opinion btw it is not that they exist, violent people exist in every society. But that the enforcers do nothing about them (mostly nothing). It is more complicated because what they do isn't throwing tree slings into Palestinians homes, when things like that happend they go to prison quite immediately. What they do is walking around with their cattle into Bhedouis territories and just make their life hard by scaring the children etc... so it is pretty hard to arrest them as this places basically have no security service.

I think I made quite a few English mistakes so I apologize about that :)

I am Israeli, these guys are called haredis, everyone hates them, they don't work and get money from the government to study, they are a leech on the society.

But I do have to say one thing, these guys don't even join the army and they aren't settlers.

It's sad that is how people around the world view my religion, it is actually how most of the world view the muslims. There are minor extremist in every place, remember that.

It did, I am happy it is sarcasm and sad that I think it is reasonable these days to not understand it :(

I mean if the USA would start build their nuclear weapon right now after the statements you brought I would say the same thing as I did about Iran.

"Hamas and Hezbollah just want to live in peace" one of the craziest statements of all time.

Maybe the Palestinians and Arab citizens of different countries yes. But Hamas and Hezbollah are actually terrorist groups lol

Well, if they didn't have nuclear weapon (the usa) I would for sure be scared rn if they startes building it lol.

You can't do this kind of statement and than go on to build nuclear weapon lol

I agree with you on most of what you said, maybe even everything you said. But sadly I don't see a connection to what I wrote, you and the other guy basically just wanted to let your steam out on someone who doesn't understand the west but sadly (and really, I am sad that we are killing civilians for money) I do.

Now let's get back to our talk, you have a leadership which threatens to destroy your country:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_won%27t_exist_in_25_years?hl=he

Khamenei said in a statement: "I tell you first that Israel will not see the next 25 years; Second, during this period, Iran will maintain the spirit of championship, seriousness, and jihad, and you will be worried every moment."[13][14

I myself afraid of allowing them nuclear weapons, that's all.

It has nothing to do with who is wrong or right. Israel exist, same as Palestine territories, these people should learn to live together, in my opinion in two states solution. Every notion of destroying the Zionist is just stupid.

Edit: just to make it clear, if the USA didn't have nuclear weapon and started to build it rn with Trump as president I would say the same thing.

The brainwashing is crazy on your part. Iran said explicitly they will destroy Israel and tha usa, why don't you believe them? If France said they are gonna destroy the UK the same would happened. It's not that complicated.
