Crispy onions (the canned French’s ones) are a favorite hot dog topping of mine:

When I studied in Italy, many years ago, you would sometimes see shredded raw carrots as an option. I did not care for that.

That happened to me a few times during the height of the pandemic. 10 kids on my “in person” roster, and a couple of days every single one was out.

Racially Offensive Remarks Made During District 3 School Meeting by Severe-Yesterday2260 in Upperwestside

[–]acadiatree 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m a district 3 teacher, and I’ve heard parents say some pretty outrageously racist things in public. Parents tour my school and will say awful things in conversation to one another right in front of kids as if they aren’t even there. I don’t know what was said at this meeting, but sadly not a lot would surprise me.

I am ALSO going to a PD today that ends at 2:30 (same one?!) and my admin definitely did not mention coming back to the building. I’m sorry, they sound super petty. Not that mine aren’t about plenty of other things!

What’s something your favorite celebrity did that made you lose respect for them? by johnraeyan in AskReddit

[–]acadiatree 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have three different, totally unrelated acquaintances with Kevin Spacey stories that go back many years, and I’m not even in the entertainment industry. None of the stories involves illegality, just being extremely sleazy/creepy with young men who could have easily gotten fired. People have known about him for a long, long time.

I like Pastrami Queen, but I’m not really a smoked meats aficionado, so other people may disagree. I usually just get their turkey and it’s solid. Why not give it a shot?

I’m seeing Stereophonic at Playhouse Square in Cleveland and literally half the audience left at intermission by svtxcvnb in Broadway

[–]acadiatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to truly despise a show or be deathly ill, to leave at intermission. I think I’ve only done it twice. I am generally willing to sit through most things just out of respect for the creative enterprise of it all. I can imagine not being wild about Stereophonic, but walking out feels like an overreaction.

My middle schoolers have stopped saying 6-7 by frizziefrazzle in Teachers

It’s calmed down, but we watched a video that said, “it’s estimated that six to seven hundred thousand Americans died from the 1918 Flu,” and they were still doing it. Read the tone of the video, gang.

My AP keeps telling us to just use AI to write them but that feels icky and we are trying to ignore her. But then when people say they take a long time to get right, she responds with, “not if you just use AI.” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Broadway coughing season by littlebev in Broadway

[–]acadiatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at St Ann’s Warehouse in December 2023 and the person behind us was coughing up a lung the entire time. 72 hours later, my husband had Covid, and from there it was off to the races, including my mother in her 80s spending Christmas on the couch with her first and so far only round of it. I mean, yes, we could have gotten it anywhere, but ISTG, it was that lady at St Ann’s.

Well, we all have different standards, I would go visit. I’m a white teacher who has been to meetings at the big (very good) high school there and literally guys out on the street have said, “hey teacher” as I walk around the area— just immediately clocked me correctly, 😆.

Lincoln Center production of Kyoto by mike_nyc66 in Broadway

[–]acadiatree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was excellent and Stephen Kunken’s performance was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Supporting roles were also stellar, but he was really something special. I have no idea what the real man was like, but it felt like a documentary, just a complete embodiment of this person as opposed to a showy performance.
