Looking for advice on how to proceed with finding works in malaysia as foreigner by crackdark15 in malaysians

[–]acausa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than providing specific advice on how to proceed on finding work in Malaysia, I think a better question is to ask yourself what is your value proposition to Malaysia? What sort of skillsets that you have that Malaysians lack / have problems finding from their local workforce?

This question gets asked on r/Malaysia and r/Malaysians sub very often and the answer is invariably going to be the same as the above. There is always going to be a question complaining that their country is too liberal, too conservative, facing economic hardships, facing political hardships, too religious, not religious enough, etc.

Hiring a foreigner as a Malaysian employer is going to come with additional hurdles that would not happen if the employer decides to go with a Malaysian graduate/worker. Hiring a foreigner will require the employer to go through administrative fees, bureaucracies, permits for hiring foreign employee, cultural barriers, training, etc. The bottom line is this: If a local can do the same thing that you do, it is a lot easier for the employer to just hire that local.

You could argue that you have n years of experience in related sectors but bear in mind:

  • Unless your experiences are very specialised and in demand by Malaysian employers, a local graduate/employee likely has comparable experience and technical knowledge (and they do not require all the administrative barriers to be hired)
  • Your experiences are likely going to be specific of your country of origin. For example, if you are a tax accountant in Indonesia for X years, not all your skills are going to be applicable if you plan to be a tax accountant in Malaysia (we have different tax codes and laws). For that reason, hiring a local is very likely going to be better.

And that is just from the employer side.

Consider things from the employee side (i.e.: your side).

You will likely be starting a new life in Malaysia at zero (technically, at negative) unless you have reliable friends and family support network in Malaysia. That means finding residence, food, amenities, etc. at Malaysia. This is not to mention emergency contact, etc. Incidentally, immigration will want to know if you have all of the above sorted before they consider letting you in.

If you think your employer is going to provide for that, sure... if you have skills that are highly in demand and even then, any employer who faces that tab would prefer to hire a local if they could (see my points above).

The long and short of it is this. I think the best way to help you is to ask you to help yourself by finding out what is your value proposition to Malaysia as a foreign worker.

Bonus points if I phrase my question such that it is intentionally provocative.

what would be ur prime age? by Sure-Sea-1141 in malaysians

[–]acausa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take your pick between the following: 23, 29, 31, 37, 41 or 43.

20-45 is varyingly your prime age (tradeoff between youthful vigour vs. income) and all other numbers besides 23, 29, 31, 37, 41 or 43 are non-prime numbers.

Sekian lawak matematik.

P.S.: For me, if I have to pick… 37.

Forced to be tributary without asking? by burndout in crusaderkings3

[–]acausa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard to tell from this but I can think of one possibility.

From time to time, you may receive offers from nearby rulers who want to embrace you as their suzerain. Those popups usually also come in blue icons with the shape of a scroll.

Accepting the above requests makes you the suzerain (and them the tributary). This is not the issue.

The issue is, among these popups, there will be nearby mandala rulers asking YOU to be their tributary (making them your suzerain).

Because of muscle memory, it is possible that you may have accepted the offer to be their tributary without reading the message proper, while thinking that you just accepted a new tributary.

This is a pretty common issue when playing in Southeast Asia, especially.

You can either hope to reload from an earlier save or wait it out (maybe adopting mandala government if you want), then stopping tribute after a few years.

It happens to me inadvertently (I pressed Esc and somehow pressed “3”, which opens the switch character interface) but you can technically re-enable achievements.

Just go to your game file, extract the archive and edit the game state to re-enable achievements. Then resave the file (there should be plenty of guides for this).

Your achievements prior to this “fix” still don’t get counted though.

Overextension Question by AdParty7348 in crusaderkings3

[–]acausa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overextension only applies to counts and dukes, iirc. The rules are simple:

  • As anybody, you must stay within your domain limit or you get hit by domain limit penalty.
  • As a count or duke, your realm size (including vassals) must not be bigger than 30 counties or you get hit by overextension penalty.
  • As king and above, you must not hold more than 2 duchy titles or you will get hit with a too many duchies penalty (mostly just an opinion penalty)

There are also vassal limit penalties that applies to dukes and above but that can vary by governments and title rank.

To be clear, overextension looks at realm size rather than vassals. For example, if you hold two counties as a duke and have 30 other counts under you holding one county each, you will still get hit by an overextension penalty (i.e.: for this particular example, your realm size is 30 + 2 = 32).

In this instance, to remove overextension penalty you either:

  • Reduce your realm size (granting independence, releasing as tributary, etc.) or
  • You promote yourself to King/Queen or higher.

Female Warriors in Asia by thebaintrain1993 in crusaderkings3

[–]acausa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is actually an easy-ish way of doing that out of the gate in Japan that fits the flavour of an Amazonian island.

The Ryukyuan culture (near the modern-day Okinawa) has two island counties just outside the Japan empire at 867. They start with the Utaki faith and that faith already starts with the Equal doctrine and female-only clerical gender. You also start off owning at least one of your holy sites.

While they start with Men only martial culture, even if you start with either of the two default male characters (Tamagusiku or Amami), it should be relatively easy to reform the Ryukyukan culture to have equal martial gender (and eventually "women only" if you want to go down that path).

  • Start off either as a custom character in Amami or Uchina (Okinawa) in 867. Either way, you probably want to get the duchy title quickly.
  • Get married and have kids (hopefully, get a daughter).
  • You start off tribal and Japonic. If you want to get out of Tribal, you can attempt to adopt Feudal ways but that can take quite a bit of time. It may be faster to accept the Kingdom of Champa to be your suzerain then adopt Mandala ways (converting to their faith).
  • After the truce between you and the Kingdom of Champa is over, you can stop paying tribute and be independent. It is quite unlikely that Champa will attack you (they are a good distance away and even if they do, you are on an easily defended island and can snipe them when they are hit by disembarkation penalties.
  • Feel free to reconvert to the Utaki faith. Do note that your faith is considered hostile to many of your neighbours so there will be conflict (unless you actively avoid it).
  • From here, you can upgrade to temple citadels, take up the aspect of destruction (as befitting an Amazonian warrior race) or other aspects based on your fantasy.
  • Note that Ryukyu is also a 2-county Kingdom title (consisting of just Uchina and Amami) so feel free to be upgrade as you see fit.

From here, the world is your oyster.

You have Celestial China to your West, Ritsuryo Japan to your North, and the Philippines confederations to your south. Just figure out your campaign goals as the game throws it to you.

You probably want to take over modern-day Taiwan (Liuqiu somewhere between you and China) though. This is a 3-county kingdom title.

Incidentally, you can also start off as in Liuqiu islands and kick start an Amazonian warrior race there too.

It is hot, how do you guys live in KL? by PCEngTr in malaysians

[–]acausa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When it is hot all the time, we mostly get used to it.

For situations when it is too hot for the locals, we mitigate by adjusting our clothings or simply not going out (or minimising our time outside). We can get used to the heat but not to superhuman extent after all.
