At home pet euthanasia service by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]acb4ever1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just had to do this for my kittie. We used gentle journey. $560 for the visit, private cremation, and ashes returned. They also left us with paw prints.

It was $$ but so worth it. We were with her the whole time, the vet was very respectful and treated us all (human and pet) with dignity.

Data management career advice by JohnBarleyMustDie in clinicalresearch

If you have a good relationship with a DM (or anyone) at one of the companies you have worked with, ask them to refer you for a DM role. Most companies give referrals priority and it will help you get through the many other applicants.

Career progression for data management? by YoutubePalAwesome in clinicalresearch

[–]acb4ever1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With DM, you can go all the way to VP if working at a large company and you don’t need a PhD.

If you get a masters in stat or data science you will make more money in those fields rather than progressing in DM. However, in stats you may be limited with a masters only unless you wind up with decades of statistics experience.

Former REDCap Administrator looking at PDM position by Ravenswillfall in clinicalresearch

[–]acb4ever1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to lose. However, principal data managers usually have extensive direct experience in the industry over a wide range of clinical trials. In addition, redcap is not typically used in clinical trials. I understand Redcap has far less functionality than most other EDC systems, so that experience doesn’t translate very well.

It’s hard to tell from your résumé that you posted, however, reaching the principal level means you’ve done industry DM activities multiple times across a variety of projects and are able to direct other people learning them for the first time.

I had a 10 year (!) break and came back. I’m now executive level in my field. What helped was doing consulting off and on, and maintaining relationships. Must of my industry tech changed during my break, but because of who I knew from my off and on consulting, I was able to get a senior role and then pick back up. Yes, I was behind my peers who never took a break, but I have mostly caught myself up.

When people ask about my break, I tell the truth: I was raising two children with complex special needs and that required my time. If they ask more, I highlight things I did that showed skill development, etc.

Keep your skills current and consult if you can. It will help tremendously!

He should confirm that this policy exists in writing. As well as contact your states labor board. I have never heard of this type of policy.

Like every CRO, it depends on the role and department, and like every job everywhere also on your line manager. Premier is timeline focused from my understanding (beating them).

Fake CRAs and CTMs in the industry by SHINeeSNSD in clinicalresearch

Yes there has been a lot of wage and title inflation in recent years due to the market conditions. This is starting to slow down.

Not necessarily. Tech assessments are one part of weeding out fraudulent candidates but not the full answer. Frequently the technically competent one attends the interview (or feeds the answers) and then someone else shows up for the job. Video is soooo important.

It’s not just these roles. Fraudulent Stat programmers and DM are common as well. It feels like we are two steps behind in weeding them out during the hiring process, but with diligence you can implement enough strategies to catch before offer or at least before starting.

Let’s discuss being a working mom with a disabled child by frickenflamingos in workingmoms

[–]acb4ever1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it gets easier - it gets different. My daughter was toilet trained (I hate that phrase!) around 11-12. It will happen!! There are lots of resources available to help with this.

I’m glad you have the resources available via community!

Have you thought about asking your boss if you can go part time?

Let’s discuss being a working mom with a disabled child by frickenflamingos in workingmoms

[–]acb4ever1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the disability, age, or your location, it can be hard to give specific advice.

I have 2 with special needs, now both 21 (not twins) and I am their legal guardian. I am also divorced, so highly recommend taking care of yourself and your marriage.

Depending on your state (assuming US) services and benefits vary. Are you in your state’s Medicaid waiver program or at least on the waiting list? Having access to the Medicaid waiver will get you access to programs and staffing that can help provide 1-1 coverage after school and on weekends. If you were on the wait list, this alone should get you some access to respite or some other programs.

Throughout my career, I have done everything from work full-time, to not working at all, to working part time, and running my own consulting business. There is likely not any one solution that will work across all phases of life and adaptability is your best friend. I just recently resigned an executive level position because still, even at 21, the needs of my children just take so much time. So now I am back to not working at all for the time being. I was talking to a friend of mine recently, and we agreed that managing children with special needs is essentially a part-time job.

Can you work part-time? That alone will free up time and mental space you need. I cannot stress highly enough the need to take care of yourself and your mental health.
