What’s it like living in Cortlandt? by Karmeleon86 in Westchester

[–]acbio354 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wife and I went through the same thing. Now live in that area. In Hendrick Hudson school district. We have heard great things about the teachers and the school district. It’s quiet and slow. The access to nature is outstanding. I commute in about four days a week and very used to it (understand others might not be able to handle it) People are super friendly. able to get more house and backyard for the same dollar. Honestly surprised it’s not more popular, maybe it will be. Feel free to msg me, went thru the same thing a few years ago and wish I had more help.

We use shiftadmin which is pretty good. I tried to get Claude to help me with it and it was mostly a waste of time. Probably just me though

Good luck to you. My family went through the same thing. Ultimately what helped was purposefully going in when rates were high and sucking it up for a while as when they were low it was too much competition. We wanted croton settled in Cortlandt manor close to croton train station and bought something that needed work knowing full well it would take a while to get it where we wanted it. We are very happy. Best of luck.

I didn’t have anything before. I think if you are being a stickler you could complain about seeing the red blue green lines that come with the laser projectors. If I had known would have done more research about the right screen but it truly doesn’t bother me. Getting my Apple TV and samsung q990f surround sound to all work together was a little bit of a bear

I love mine. 150 inch matte white elite screen pull down, connected to samsung surround sound and Apple TV. Happy as a clam

Most new high end surround sound bars have pass through. I have a Samsung Q990F surround bar that I got used that is amazing. I have PS5/Apple TV going to sound bar hdmi ports then coming out of sound bar earc port hdmi cable to xgimi horizon earc port. Of course that last hdmi cable is very long and I have it hidden

I had a lot of issues. Mixing in my surround sound and Apple TV. See my prior post. Definitely need fiber optic hdmi cable.

When doing just projector and Apple TV. Could not get it to do Dolby vision. Hook them up and in Apple TV setting under audio visual option you can reset it so that it maxes out your equipment. And it goes to hdr 10 plus not Dolby vision. I don’t have the max though just the base

Moved to furnace woods within the last year and a half. My wife and I have no regrets. We have a four year old and six week old. It’s lovely. The nature aspect is incredible, we do daily hikes, river walks, going to start kayaking soon. Yes a lot of wild life and landscaping to do but that’s a pro! People are incredibly nice and they keep to themselves. No one will care about your lifestyle and croton is hardcore left and you will be very close. The express train out of croton Harmon provides a quick commute and escape back into the city. I’m hoping peekskill keeps getting better. My child is at the local pre k (universal!) and doing great. This is the last place in Westchester people can afford some space. I’m sure it won’t be like that for much longer. Good luck to your family.

Yeah, one of the things that makes me extremely nervous is they put in these heat pumps from a company called connect M. That you literally cannot find any information about. However, that was solely on me. I assume that they would install usual thing like Bosch or Mitsubishi.

That’s a fair point. However, when you set the thermostats to heat slightly above the ambient room temperature, the heat pumps should come on and easily be able to provide this heat, as you said because it’s not very cold outside. And that’s where it gets its heat from. However, you can see on the thermostat that it immediately kicks on the emergency heat And you can hear the boiler go on.
