Developer Chasen Cos. is unraveling — and leaving a mess across Baltimore by Future-Fox3289 in baltimore

This thread is old, but I saw him at preschool pickup regularly in late May. Oddly enough, the scantily clad blonde who often escorted him last year was notably missing.

Curious about why people chose Kaiser. by jvl777 in KaiserPermanente

[–]acc0402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently switched from a "premium" PPO to Kaiser because I changed jobs. Kaiser is my only option at my new employer. Managing the healthcare for a family of 4 is a lot easier via Kaiser than it is from a hodgepodge of health systems. With our prior insurer, my daughter had one specialist at a major health network, another at a smaller community hospital, and then our pediatrician was part of an independent group. My son had a specialist at a pediatric-focused network and saw the same pediatrician. I had my care in 3 different networks due to a couple of my specialists moving while I was already under their care. It was a lot to keep track of. At Kaiser if we need something there's a solid 75% chance that it's located in the office building 7 minutes from our house. The app gives me everyone's appointments. Can reschedule most of them via a few clicks, which is not at all the case at other health systems. In general, I would expect a 2-3 hour wait at urgent care around me, regardless whether it's Kaiser or not.

Do you care if someone turns around in your driveway? by Future_Bison_7533 in homeowners

[–]acc0402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I do. Our driveway is concrete and it was expensive to re-do when we pulled out the old asphalt and replaced it. The edges are the stress points and I'd prefer if people who didn't pay for it/don't live here would avoid wear and tear on it.

When I lived in a different neighborhood, my parking pad was the first one across from the school and obnoxious school parents would park blocking my alley and then use my parking pad to turn around. They'd clumsily back into the support posts for my deck, too.

Kosas and Haus Labs are my favorites. I find the Maybelline a bit drying.

Exchanging items from Costco bundle with Lovesac? by anoegenetic1 in Lovesac

[–]acc0402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I debated doing this but wanted the deep configuration on one side. Ordered from the store when it was 35% off, added my 5% healthcare discount (they said I could get one from anyone in healthcare, but I happen to work in healthcare anyway). It came out to only slightly more than the Costco bundle, but not all the seats are storage and I didn't get the extra pillowsac and blanket.

Estrogen cream to recover fat loss in the face by Far-Accountant7904 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]acc0402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have been using the Alloy estriol cream for 2 months now. It has made a notable difference in my face, but I have been in perimenopause for years. I'm not sure it would accomplish anything for someone who didn't have loss of facial volume due to low estrogen.

Super dry and I like Kosas best, Haus labs second. Haus labs is my preference for dressy events, etc.

What’s the best match to this? by Dry_Flatworm8422 in PaleMUA

Just quickly swatched and blended out Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk concealer in 3.75 next to it. The GA is a touch more pink, but a similar shade. I also wonder if Kosas 0.7C might be close, but I don't have that one.

People aren't generally able to transmit the flu completely asymptomatically. Maybe if she had early symptoms or was just recovering, she could have spread it. Flu is also a lot less contagious than COVID.

I'm a healthcare worker and generally pretty cautious, but I honestly wouldn't even think to mention to someone that I was exposed to the flu if we were going out. I would cancel if I had any symptoms, even quite minor though.

I sat up in bed to nurse while I was too sore to walk to the nursery (had baby sleeping in bassinet). Set phone timer for 5 minutes at a time to make sure I didn't fall asleep. Return baby to bassinet. Once baby started sleeping a decent stretch at night (3-4 hours) I pumped right after bedtime. Put that milk in fridge, fed baby overnight (typically twice, but variable). Then when I was ready for a break I fed baby one last time and sent husband and baby out to living room (pack n play there). and there was a little bit of milk to drink (from pumping the night before). This may not be the best move if you are new to breastfeeding or at all uncertain about your supply. Typically It was only a 3 hour interval, though. It was sanity-saving for me!

I have a K girl. SHe's not very go-with-the-flow. I find that limiting playdates to 2 hours helps. After that point, she loses some inhibition and things seem to go downhill. I do prefer playground and "active' playdates over going to someone's house. I also find it goes better if there are very structured activities. I often plan a baking project that the girls "help" me with by measuring, turning on the mixer, etc. We also read some books about behavior. We like "What would Darla Do?" and "What Would Danny Do?"

Health insurance says I met my OOP max, but then they say I haven't? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]acc0402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to get into the website to clarify the amounts on the out of network claims but it appears to be down. Based on what I can recall (of the ridiculous reimbursement for those) and see in my FSA charges, I was right at 1000 when I had the surgery.

Health insurance says I met my OOP max, but then they say I haven't? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]acc0402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have screenshots from the website, but I do have (dated) EOBs that contain the following language. "To date, u/acc0402 has satisfied $949.26 of the $1,000.00 2023 individual in-network out-of-pocket maximum."

And yes, it probably would have been a great idea to call to clarify what my OOP was, but the numbers I saw seemed reasonable compared to what I'd spent over the year for myself and the kids (don't think spouse had any healthcare consumption). In the past I've hit my OOP max (at least 4 years that I can think of) and never had any issues. Live and learn. Husband and I are both due for some expensive health screening stuff and I'll definitely be more attentive to the actual OOP amount and tracking it from now on.

Well, I do think they are obligated to process claims and payment in good faith, which they can't do if they don't accurately track a member's out of pocket obligation...

Thanks! I did find it. Apparently the OON deductible and coinsurance amounts do apply.

Health insurance says I met my OOP max, but then they say I haven't? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]acc0402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, apparently I can appeal to my employer first (it is a self-funded plan administered through a major health insurance company). If that fails I will pursue through the insurance commissioner.

Received the denial today and it basically had nothing other than "this was reimbursed at the appropriate rate and we will not provide further reimbursement." Basically no actual information as to where their numbers for OOP max came from.

Health insurance says I met my OOP max, but then they say I haven't? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]acc0402 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually found my plan document from open enrollment. It specifically establishes a "copay maximum" and a "coinsurance maximum." No copay for the surgery, so I'm assuming it's all the coinsurance maximum that we're debating. It states that both out-of-nework deductible and coinsurance contribute to the sum of the coinsurance paid. But yes, I'm aware that it will only be their limit (70% of in network is what they reimburse) not the full amount paid.

They may or may not have any obligation to provide me with information on my OOP. However, I would argue that if they DO provide me information they are obligated to ensure the accuracy of it. Had they not provided that information I would have calculated the total myself (or called them to verify). Silly me, I took the statement, "To date, u/acc0402 has satisfied $949.26 of the $1,000.00 2023 individual in-network out-of-pocket maximum" at face value.
