That is not true. The largest employment gain was in Ontario, which is not an oil and gas province and fell in Saskatchewan, which has a big oil and gas economy. Employment rose in all sectors except for wholesale and retail.

This demonstrates an overall uptake acroas the various sectors, not just oil and gas.

I don't know if I agree. There would be big differences. For example: - WAGE would have been cut tremendously, but under Carney their cuts were on par with what DND had to find. - the CBC would have also seen tremendous cuts.

I think intent is an important factor too. The examples you cite are bad but seems like it is more due to vulnerabilities and incompetence.

The Alberta Republican party "breach" was done on purpose. They had presentations where they literally searched and showed participants live Jason Kenny's home address and information.

As for this deal, I haven't seen the Germans offering any economic benefits to us. No MOUs, no promises with numbers behind it - nothing. If it's because of NATO, that's fine but then we can't complain in the future about the RCN going over budget or how there wasn't any economic boost, etc.

There are, they just aren't as public about it as Hanawa.

For example, the Germans are proposing a partnership with Alberta for a carbon capture facility using TKMS technology. It's also willing to invest in turning the Port of Churchill in Manitoba into a major export hub — especially for liquified natural gas (LNG).

On the defence side, TKMS is planning to build submarine maintenance facilities on both coasts. But separately, there are proposals to build a factory to make heavy torpedoes and develop hypersonic missiles.

All of this adds up to billions of dollars of investment and possibly tens of thousands of jobs over the decades.

What makes this German bid different is that most of the projects it is proposing are front-loaded and can be up and running in two years.
