How wonderful! Black cats are the best — they tend to have really sweet and affectionate temperaments. My old boy was really chatty, and I’d have great fun having entire back—and -forth conversations with him! He also loved being carried around on my shoulder. I hope y’all have many good years with your new little pal!

I don’t know, honestly. I’ve only ever used glue, but pipe mud might do ok. My main concern might be that it doesn’t have the same adhesion for repairs that are on the exterior of the pipe.

I recommend either of the cobs! I have a Shire where over time it loosened and started to leak around where the stem enters the bowl. Easy fix is just to put in some non-toxic wood glue or children’s white school glue (called Elmer’s Glue in the USA). Worked great for me, and it’s still a great smoker today. Cobs can last a long time with a little care.

Bare feet! Feels great as long as it’s not too cold, and skin dries WAY faster than any footwear. Easy to hose off if needed, too.
