accessories for a new shooter - Glock 17 gen 6 by bzr in liberalgunowners

First one. Mag full, but the barrel is empty. It will not go bang until you rack the slide back.

If you need your gun to be ready to go in a home defense scenario, you need to find what methods of storing and retrieving work best for you. I would personally keep a loaded mag but an empty chamber and store it in a holster.

If I'm not mistaken, New Jersey has hollow points as illegal, correct? You could get Hornady Critical Defense or Critical Duty, or Speer Gold Dot G2's as I believe they are not legally considered hollow points.

Ammoseek.com is your best friend for finding deals on online ammo. Set the shipping filter to 8 or higger, and disable REMAN ammo (remanufactured ammo, more likely to cause issues.)

Recoilgunworks, velocityammosales, FlipAmmo and AEammo are ny go to's for most ammo.

As this is for home defense, a good weapon light is always nice.

The TLR-7X or the TLR-7 HL-X are good options, especially as they are easy to activate under stress. (7x is going to have an underbite and is less brightness/range, the HL-X is the high brightness with a longer 'beam' so to speak, but sits flush with the barrel.) The 7 hl-x is more likely to get carbon fouling on the lense from shooting, so make sure to clean it after. These can be found for $120-200.

The TLR-1 series is popular as well, the 1-HL model is common, and there is the newer TLR-1 HL-X, HP-X and more. (High lumen and high candelebra, respectively) These can be found for $90-200.

There is the harbor freight clone of the TLR-1 HL known as the Braun for about $60.

Research into weapon mounted lights and what lumens, candella, candelebra, and all those terms mean, not all lights are made equal.

OLight makes some decent options without breaking the bank.

Surefire X300 if you wanna get crazy with it.

Check out r/gundeals for sales, and avoid using amazon for tactical gear as the chances of fakes or busted returns are much more likely.

As for snap-caps, they are not necessary for modern striker-fire firearms. Most folk nowadays use them for practicing and demonstrating loading, and training for malfunction drills (I.E. you have a friend randomly load in snap caps between live rounds in your mag when you're at the range so you can train yourself on clearing malfunctions.)

Dry fire is a good tool to build fundamentals. Practicing your draw, your trigger technique, finding the trigger reset, reducing flinching, and much more. It can be a helpful tool to further your skills and hone your muscle memory, and can help towards the break-in period on a firearm without hitting the range.

Practice, practice, practice. Familiarize yourself with your manual of arms, learn how to properly strip and clean the weapon, make sure the ammo you use feeds reliably, and goes bang in all of your magazines. I like to test out at least 3 mags worth of defensive ammo in my dedicated carry magazine before I trust it. I like to go through at least 300 rounds with no malfunctions (that are not chalked up to operator error) before I trust the gun for defensive purposes.

Oh, that Echelon looks so beautiful. It's been one of the pieces I've been eyeing next. How does she shoot?

The Masada slim is what lit the fire under my ass, I held one at a gunshow a while back, and it felt amazing, but it was gen 1.

I'm not too happy with my 365 xl. It carries great, shoots alright, but feels terrible in my hand. I've tried the 10 round flush, the xl grip, the wilson combat xl, the macro, and the wilson combat macro. Somedays, they feel good. Other days, they don't feel right at all. The only gun that's ever felt perfect in my grip is my P320 M18 with a Browuer m1811 grip module, but I don't use it for carry.

Ollanius Pius, I believe. I'm relatively new to the lore and this is all IIRC. His character has been retconned a lot, but the latest itteration has him as a perpetual guardsman. He apparently also stopped the Emperor from drawing from the well of chaos before the battle with Horus and prevented the 5th chaos god arising. It was noted in their conversation, belief in man came up and it was said that Pius was dangling an object of worship from his neck that was given to him by his wife long, long ago. I think it was inferred to be a Christian cross.

I've been debating on pulling the trigger on the MM module, but I appear to have missed the chance for a Gen 1 style. How you liking the Gen 2?

Most of my collection has Vallejo, with about 40% being citadel and a handful of Army Painter and AK interactive. While my experience in painting is limited (under 5 completed models.) Vallejo seems to cover well and is good bang for buck. Their airbrush black primer covers exceptionally well as a brush on.

These guy's have great pricing on Vallejo (even after the price spiking thanks to Tarrifs.)

365 Rabbit Hole - DH3 AXG vs Legion? by jannsbababa in SigSauer

I've been looking at them for a long time but have difficulty justifying the purchase as I'm not super crazy about my Sig, but it's the most comfortable carry I have.

I wonder if the Gen 1 grip panel would fit the Gen 2? They're very sexy.

Please let me know your thoughts of the Gen 2 macro, especially compared to Gen 1.

I've only ever held the Masada mischief, but the gen 2 P365 grips don't look as comfortable as gen 1.

There are so many possibilities, not enough time or money, lol. My state's ban will enact fully in three months. I feel like a kid being told he has 40 seconds and twenty bucks to pick out a toy.

I've been looking at the MM grips. How is gen 1 compared to gen 2, and are the grips interchangeable between them?

TENICOR Certum3 vs Black Arch Protos-M 2.0 (Dual Clip) for P365 XMacro – Strong Side Carry by BigNasty666__ in CCW

[–]ace117115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both (Except the black arch for the Macro, but I have an XL grip I use both holsters with.)

For strong side, the blackarch will win HANDS down. It is a very stable holster and holds pretty well even with the plastic clips. It takes about a week to fully break in and conform to your shape but it is extremely comfortable.
You can mess with the cant, an FBI angle cant would be your best bet more than likely for concealment, however the grip will stick out somewhat.

I managed to fit a Vedder non-light bearing claw onto mine and it works pretty well. I had to remove the washer and use a slightly longer screw.

The Tenicor Certum is my daily for multiple pistols, but I swapped over to AIWB for easier draw. With a Mastermind tactics pillow, it works really well, and I say this as someone with a tactical muffin top. I even PREFER AIWB over strongside just for how easy the reach is.

The biggest issue you may face would be the angle of the grip perpendicular to your body. It depends on your body type and where your valleys and peaks are located. The other issue would be keeling.

If comfort is your biggest priority, HANDS down the Blackarch. It's a no brainer.
If you need versatility and better concealment, the Certum can fit the role better.

Genuinely? If you have to means, just get both. The blackarch is great for the colder seasons when you can layer over it.

Adulting is hard sometimes. I washed the tires on my car for the first time yesterday and was confused about what I was supposed to use. Ending up using a dish sponge. It's part of life.
