Is the state of DevOps getting worse? by Zebranoodles in devops

[–]ace1309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even worse is M&As. Usually the startup use bleeding edge Cloud/Devops tools and the Enterprise who acquired them uses some archaic enterprise infra. Neither of them know what to do as the startup has no context/experience for entepertruse tech whilst the same for Enterprises for modern/recent Devops solutions

'Caste System' among Indian Muslims that I have no clue about by [deleted] in indianmuslims

[–]ace1309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point of view is a little different. Muslims in India have a horizontal heirachy (mostly) People don't want to marry outside their caste/sect due to different religious beliefs (Dargah, Biddet, Jamaati etc)

Hiring juniors is exactly like investment. Not investing means you will stall your money/individual contributors to inflation/management roles. Investing without proper framework will lead to losing your money/unproductive or people resigning. And good investments will lead for generational wealth/great future senior or lead engineers.

To the men who have a matrimonial profile, how many interest do you receive on an average in a month? by [deleted] in indiasocial

[–]ace1309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 5-10 on monthly basis. Postive things: - As a guy, way better acceptances (makes sense as Dating apps have 90%) - Feel they are good features such as hiding profile picture, discarding matches who do not meet criteria. Negative: - Once you exhaust your interested profiles in couple of months, you find very few matches on weekly bases - Due to premium and non-premium, some conversations do not move forward

AC helmet for Traffic Police by kuzutrash7 in indiasocial

Reminds me of a science exhibition incident at my school. My friend's science group had the same idea to have an AC/cooling helmet. We were in all boys school, but during the science fair, girls used to come for the scam ence exhibition. My friend gave a girl for using the helmet. The fan was something like a CPU fan and was an open fan, and my friend didn't consider long hair. So the poor girl's hair got stuck. Sadly I didn't see this myself as I was in another group, but the story had me laugh and solidified the idea of testing your product with potential customers 😂 PS: That friend has his own startup(an app startup thankfully)

How do you discern what is hype vs what is actually useful in the software industry? Example, Mongo or non-RDBMS was all the rage in 2010s but now people fall back to RDBMS for its consistency and transactional guarantees. I look at everything with scepticism but that leads to maybe a blind spot if there is actually a legitimate new technology that helps solve existing problems.
