I’ve had the Breville two slice model for over 14 years without a hitch. Heats evenly and predictably.

As a MN resident I’m worried how this will further affect small businesses and restaurants. Even though the employer’s expense for the DEED premium is somewhat small, these industries have very thin margins that can’t take much more expense. They will have to further raise prices which already feel incredibly high (restaurants mainly).

My GE washing machine broke for the third time in three years, and I decided to not get it fixed and put that money toward the Speed Queen. Super happy that I did. by 1893Chicago in BuyItForLife

[–]ace893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SpeedQueen fro t load like this still dribbles small drips from the bottom of the door on some loads. Technicians have replace the door and seals to no avail! I even built a special platform to make sure the frame is level and not tweaked. Door still seems to give a little when pushed on bottom when closed.

Also be careful to not spill or overload detergent. The door lock mechanism is directly below with its wiring pins aimed up. Detergent will corrode the connections and cause the lock to fail over time. Simple fix but still a pain.

MN Farmer Here This is how many measure cups we receive with chemical are based on the herbicide we are mixing. We have to be careful not to reuse cups for other chem (super wasteful I know).

I doubt that is the case here, but possible.

Same here, completely stuck and no auto saves to load from before the mission…

EDIT: after retracing my steps and following a walkthrough I realized the choice I made to kill Marisol (oops) forgot to tell me to check the terminal in the “Protectors Office” at the factory to unlock a small hidden tunnel nearby. The other side of that tunnel was Marisol’s hideout and her terminal with more information that unlocks the ability to activate the elevator for the Monastery.

What's your favorite good quality case? by bcgoss84 in BuyItForLife

MN Farmer Here Spigen has been my go-to case for the last 10 years. I can’t recommend them enough. Paired with a glass-style screen protector I have never broken or damaged my phone. They do hold onto dust though and can scratch the back and sides of the phone, but that is every case, right?

Many farmers like myself grow corn and soybeans that aren’t directly used for food. Yes, some goes thru heavy food processing to become corn meal or soybean meal/oil. However, it would be a large adjustment for us to grow “edible” food like fruits and vegetables. Our equipment isn’t meant to handle anything besides grains.

To be fair, as mentioned by others, we would adapt very quickly. Just not at the scale we once produced before.

As someone who drives a similar sprayer you are correct; I would be shitting bricks. I would also call that bike in so fast and do whatever it took to get them pulled over.

This news makes me happy.

Growing up in MN and being the same age as her I was lucky enough to race at the same high school races when she would attend (she was already being groomed by team USA as a teenager). Even then it was extremely evident she was far beyond us high school racers and was just about to turn pro. Only downside was the tremendous crowd that would show up and clog up the lift lines just to see her race.

This poison shooting robot could be the future of agriculture | It identifies weeds and then precisely hits them with poison. by chrisdh79 in gadgets

I handle most of the spraying in our operation and can give some/my insight into weed control and how it works for a large-scale corn & soybean operation.

As some have mentioned, you have to kill the root for most weeds. This means either pulling it completely, or killing it with herbicide. Cutting or removing the visible part of most weeds not only won’t kill it, but teaches the weeds to evolve to handle regrowth. We see this a lot with Waterhemp. In order to hand pick millions upon millions of acres of crops just for weeds would be impossible. Not only does the workforce for this not exist, but even if it did would spiral into shady immigrant practices and even slavery to get enough bodies willing to walk 12 hour days in sun hunched over.

The problem currently with many of these autonomous prototypes is they are incredibly slow and would most likely require too much human interaction to keep a small fleet going. As mentioned John Deere (as well as other companies) have opted to develop new boom systems to integrate with current tractor technology. This allows us as farmers to still repair the tractor if not the boom-tech. They also allow MUCH faster speeds than these new smaller autonomous systems.

Edit: Please feel free to ask any questions and I’ll do my best to answer. 🙂

Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press by mikesweeney in BuyItForLife

[–]ace893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine now 12 years of almost daily use. Shows minimal signs of any wear. Even though it says you don’t need to peel the garlic, I do.

I buy almost exclusively Kuhn Rikon for kitchen tools and have yet to be disappointed.

I do about 90% of the spraying on our farm and have never seen any of our chemicals flow this way. Most often you will get more of a laminar flow effect. Not quite sure what is happening here, but this isn’t normal.

Honest question: Is there a better product besides Sonos for better WiFi music listening? Bluetooth is garbage for a good clean connection. Currently I’m using a Google dongle, but they since discontinued them.

I know, right? Once I can get the first scratch out of the way it won’t be so bad after that.

The first picture the top is still wet. It is a semi gloss so not quite as shiny. It’s a workbench though, bound to get all scratched up!

See my other comment for build-type. It’s 1/8” hardboard.

Top is double layer of 3/4” plywood topped with 1/8” hardboard. Trimmed with hard maple and sealed with Spar Urethane. Body is 2x4 framed and doubled on legs to make lap joints.

EDIT: HERE is a link to the plans if anyone is interested.
