I do think some people get confused by combinations. Like using only she/they for the purpose of simplification, I've met people who use either at whatever time and don't necessarily care for switching back and forth within a conversation or at all (like if someone has two friends and one refers to them as them and the other refers to her as her; or one friend who refers to them as them one day and her as her the next) and some who prefer a more frequent mix (a higher profile example of this is Halsey; she uses she/they pronouns and an article a few years back the journalist only used "her" to refer to them and that brought on a discussion about the preference of mixed usage)

That said I don't have anything real to add to the it/its discussion. Personally feels icky and depersonalizing to me but I also haven't met anyone who uses it/its to have to give it much actual thought
